I really want to see a Wisconsin/Stanford battle, but it doesn't appear like we'll get that. A shame.

I think in the end Oregon's conditioning is going to get the win for them, they have a way of wearing down teams by the end. It'll be interesting to see if the defenses try to limit the big plays or decide to take chances and go after the quarterbacks.
The Vegas point spread seems to be settling on Auburn as a 3 point favorite. If I had to make a prediction I'd easily take the over and guess Auburn wins 38-27.

I really don't get why that didn't happen. They could have selected that matchup to make the Rose Bowl a Big 10 vs. Pac-10 game. Not sure why TCU is likely to be there.

It's a rule this year that if the Rose Bowl lost the Big 10 or Pac-10 champ to the national title game they had to take the highest non-AQ. They would love a Stanford-Wisconsin game, but it's not an option.

The Miami interview process is supposed to go into high gear this week. Hocutt is saying all the right things, I really hope he hires the right guy. We need someone with discipline, loyalty, and longevity. I'd love to see a young and enthusiastic coach in there. If we hired someone like Dan Mullen, Kevin Sumlin, or Al Golden I would be as happy as a clam. Although I'm pretty sure Al Golden is holding out for the eventual Penn State opening.

Cam Newton as Ben Roethlisberger II

Cameron Newton's greatness as a college quarterback was established weeks ago. Now, we're all just searching.

Tapping the Page Down key on my laptop as I sifted through Twitter as the supersized, do-everything Auburn Tigers junior was lighting up South Carolina in the SEC title game Saturday evening, it was apparent we're shoulder-deep in the hyperbole phase with Newton.

In sports, we crave the need to compare. Everybody has to be like somebody else. We're all compelled to do it. Coaches do it, too. The attempted answers often are more cosmetic than anything else.

Many have likened the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Newton to another towering quarterback who excelled in a spread offense, namely Vince Young, formerly of the Texas Longhorns. Others suggested Daunte Culpepper, David Garrard and Tim Tebow, the guy Newton used to play behind at Florida.

I thought Ben Roethlisberger was a more intriguing comparison.

I don't think he's going to be a very good NFL quarterback myself, his style of play doesn't fit the NFL very well. He's a fabulous collegiate player, and I hope he comes back for another year. He's so fun to watch.

There's no way Newton comes back for another year. There's a very real possibility that new information could come out that makes him ineligible, and he's not going to risk having to sit out the year and having to wait for the 2012 draft. In addition his stock can't get much higher than it already is, and it's obvious that his family needs the money.

I know this, but I can hope. If there is no NFL next season, it's going to be really interesting with all the outstanding underclassman that want to turn pro.

I agree. There's literally zero chance Newton returns. His stock is as high as it could possibly get and he's better off just getting out of there and making millions for his family. Isn't his dad facing some possible charges for trying to put him on the auction block too? Though I do agree that he has bust written all over him in the pros. Not a JaMarcus Russell level bust but maybe a Vince Young type of bust.

The FBI was investigating Newton's dad, I believe it had to do with tax evasion if he did receive the money, but so far there's no evidence any money ever changed hands. I don't know if the feds are still looking into his dad.

He's not an NFL ready player at all, he better cash in while he can. I still say with him at the helm Florida would have contended for another national title this season.

They probably would have. It was clearly Brantley not fitting the offense that was Florida's biggest problem. Can Newton would have fit the Gators offense perfectly.

I just read about this. This is an awesome news. I didn't think we'd meet before our scheduled regular season game in 2012, but this is a pleasant surprise. The Irish hold a 15-7 edge against us, so it's never too soon to start moving toward evening that record.

I'd go with this.

BCS Title Game: Auburn over Oregon (by about 2 TD's)
Sugar Bowl: Arkansas over Ohio St.
Orange Bowl: Stanford over Virginia Tech
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma over Connecticut (major blowout)
Rose Bowl: Wisconsin over TCU

Other decent Bowl Games:
Capital One Bowl: Alabama over Michigan St.
Outback Bowl: Florida over Penn St. (basically a gome game for Florida)
Chick-fil-a Bowl: South Carolina over FSU
Liberty Bowl Bowl: UCF over Georgia
Sun Bowl: Miami over Notre Dame
Las Vegas Bowl: Boise St. over Utah (major blowout)

I'd take the over. I don't see Auburn scoring less than 50. I actually think Auburn wins this game easily. Oregon had such an easy schedule. They played one current top 25 team, and that was a home game against Stanford, another team that played one top 25 team. Oregon has an awful defense, giving up at least 29 points in 4 of their games, and Auburn has a bad defense as well, also giving up at least 29 points in 4 games, so I don't see many drives ending without points.
