Now I'm concerned if the replacement is going to be a problem as well! Those that got a defective one - was it a cherry finish? Just looking for any pattern... Maybe I'll ask for a black one instead...

Anyway, while I wait, Best Buy's 30 day return policy has become my best friend as I'm trying out a Definitive Prosub 800... Very nice! Tight and deep bass in a very small form factor. Definitely deeper and tighter than my old generation HTD Level 3 12 inch sub that I'm replacing...

Here's to hoping the AA HD10 will be as good (or at least come close) to the Definitive... The Prosub800 is $399 at BB...

that's what i was thinking. if the high levels work then it has to be a rca issue. i was wondering if i could just do one channel, since my amp has a mono out(one cable).

i ended up putting my old sub back. i'm going to test hi-levels tomorrow to see if amp is blown. i suspect the rca issue so i'm testing it second. any other suggestions? fuse is also o.k. & i changed that too.

someone had an rca work around, does anyone remember who it was? i hate having to read through this whole thread again to find him or the person who swapped out the amp. thanks & beware. this latest batch of amps is garbage.
Try putting the auto/on switch in the "on" position. Then test by itself. These subs need a strong input signal. Your sub will probably be playing fine again?

Its sad though, YOU shouldn't have to fix a NEW sub. They shouldnt be sending out all these defective ones. They should check them before they waste our time sending out a junker

My sub was a Maple color HDSUB12. TheDeepDiscount said that this is the only color for the HDSUB12. So i dont know if theres a pattern but i know there wont be anymore with me.

i agree, i should not have to try & figure out this problem. setting it to on was first on my list, no change. there something wrong with the amp. not sure what? i'm going to test it since it's the weekend. not going to cut or solder anything. if it works, i'll replace the rcas, if not it's going back mon or tues. i'll give them a chance to correct their issues.

does anyone know if this is a 4 or 8 ohm sub? i have another sub amp, but i don't want to blow it on this woofer if i test the driver. also have there been any report or know problems with the drivers?

i would like to get this thing working, because it did sound very good when it was working. i blame the jacks because that was my first time unplugging & then plugging them since i set it up. thanks for your input everyone. it's my work weekend so i'm not as p*ssed as i would be if i was off.

tested high levels, no go. connected the woofer to another source, bypassing the amp--woofer works fine.
amp is dead, after 1 1/2 days. emailed TDD & i plan on calling next week.

There's always gonna be problems with electronic items. It's the customer service that bothers me when something does go wrong. ED had problems I know but they are right one top of things when they do go wrong.

Try Calling the DeepDiscount with this number 1-815-927-3320 and ext 1005 It seemed to be better than just calling and hitting option 2

I feel your pain. I picked up an HDSBU10 last month that gave me a whole 15 min. of use before the amp decided to commit hari-kari. DD was at least responsive and I received a replacement amp last Tuesday, which so far has been working fine. But, I noticed the other day something about the replacement amp that I didn't catch initially. What's wrong with this picture?



I still have a concern that the Auto-On on this amp is not working properly and the amp is always on. But, I have a new pre-pro on the way and I'll be moving my old pre-pro and amp to where I use the HDSUB10. The amp will have 2 free channels for me to use to bypass the internal amp of the HDSUB10. Now I won't have to worry about the internal amp being idle when the sub is not in use.

Yes, at least the label says so . It does make me feel a little better about the whole ordeal. When does the ED sub arrive? Doesn't it take about a month or so since they build it when you order it, or am I thinking of another company?

thanks for the number & ext. i just want this resolved. not too upset since it's a "bargain" item. i understood the risks when i bought it. i'll just keep buggin them until the warranty expires. at least i didn't sell my backup.

How long did it take to get your old amp returned & replaced?

I sent the amp back on Dec. 23rd, and UPS got it to them on the 28th. I received a tracking# on Jan. 4th, but it stayed in "billing info received" status until I think the 7th or the 8th. So it looks like it just sat there for a few days before it finally went out. The amp was delivered on the 12th.

Hey if anyone that is currently looking into the HD-SUB12, I will let you know that a member here has an ENERGY ESW-10 sub that I think he will sell for about the same price as the AA SUB12. I can say from owning an AA HD-SUB10 and hearing the Energy Subs that I think you would find the Energy sub to be a very good and reliable sub, with excellent bass reproduction.

Given the recent hit and miss quality of subs that have been received lately, This would be a steal for this sub.

PM me if anyone is interested and I will put you in contact with the seller.
