Absolutely.

Yeah, the film was sadly gutted during post, but has just enough to function if you ask me. I don't think it would have been amazing or anything, but I believe the original cut would have at least been better than what we got.

I've always wondered what that would have been like. As it stands, only some folks got to see it during test screenings before it was drastically altered. But it would have been a very different film. Just look at this being cut!

The Predator was basically my introduction to the franchise. I thought it was a lot of fun.

Honestly, if it was the first ever I saw in the franchise, I could see myself not being jaded and enjoying it a bit more.

Then I remember why I fell in love with this series and idea of it, and realize it never got the quality success it deserved after the first movie lol.

Kudos to you, I wish I had that feeling lol.

The reason I rank Requiem over Shane Black is because I enjoy Wolf slaying ALIENS over a freak who abducts kids with disabilities.

Both films are stupid, but at least one of them gets the concept I want.

I've always enjoyed this one, don't really understand the hate it gets.

Having only ever seen the original back in the 80’s and the AVP movies when they came out, I’m finally going through all the other Predator films in order. After all the vitriol I’ve read about this instalment I almost skipped it, but glad I didn’t - yes it was dumb but I didn’t find it a painfully bad slog the way Predator 2 was (sorry, don’t get the love).

As someone with Tourette Syndrome, though, this was definitely the last movie in which I EVER expected to see a TS ‘portrayal’ lol. Elite army dude with TS makes about as much sense as cat burglar extraordinaire with TS, or world-class mime with TS .

It works as a comedy but not as a Predator film.

I still kind of like this one, especially the first 2/3 of the film. It's painfully obvious there were reshoots and the studio f'ed over Black on the finale.

I still don't know what to think of this movie. It felt like a mid MCU movie, but without context. Like, you don't have other movies or set ups to go by with.

Yeah, I'm on the same boat.

You can really feel the dip in quality halfway through, where the movie starts dragging its (by studio interference) mortally wounded body towards the bitter end.

The original ending was massively altered in post-production, and you can definitely tell once Act 3 starts.

The characters were beyond obnoxious. AvP: Requiem levels of obnoxious.

Shane Black tried to sort of recapture the tone, character dynamic and humor from John McTiernan's original film. He couldn't. Then again, Fox spent years sabotaging everything that was good about this and the ALIEN franchise, so Black probably bumped heads often with the studio and the producers on this one.

I lasted the whole film but not without skipping parts. The CGI of the roided up predator took me completely out of the film. I'll sit through repeated views of Requiem and all of it's darkness before I do this one again.

The CGI Predator just never looked good. And the whole autistic kid plot just really embarrassed the whole film for any sense of narrative depth. It's a very stupid movie.

I want to believe that Shane Black had something good here cuz he's had a good track record but it really does sound like Fox ****ed him over on it.
