The pic I think you're referring to is an olllllllld ad for Theatrical releases from the 1980s. Not for any contemporary/recent re-releases.

Interesting news. Can't wait for the official announcement. I would not root for a big set, but rather individual releases.
I would be very interested in a new edition of Superman: The Movie, with TC and SE in 4K, plus the TV 3-hour cut BD, plus the previous TC/SE BDs from the Anthology with all the extras. Same for Superman II with TC and RDC in 4K (if RDC can be refined further or if the TV cut can be added, it would be even greater) and same than S:TM for the Anthology BDs. No interest at all in III and IV. But if Superman Returns can have its original opening edited back in 4K (plus all its extras), that would make the third individual buy for me. |

I only watched the Donner Cut once.
Just didn't work at all for me, as it still felt like a rough fan cut. The theatrical cut is much more entertaining. |

I think we have some inkling already on the old ABC TV cut, which is the closest to a hybrid of the Donner and Lester versions we have so far outside of fan made edits... albeit without the Brando footage and added Metropolis fight footage as seen in the Donner Cut since one was a rights issue and the other was the fact the effects were not completed at that time. |

In my view, they have to go with the Paris sequence, the pink bear reveal for two reasons;
1, The inserted cgi footage of the missile going into space and then spinning looks terrible (this means they need to use the Eiffel Tower elevator release method) 2, the blank bullets scene is too low quality. I know now it’s been 15 years since the Donner Cut. I do wonder with the advent of things like deepfake technology if that could have been used to patch some holes that would have been impossible in 2006? |

The reason the blank bullets scene was low quality was because that was just footage shot during a test screening with Reeve and Kidder to see what kind of chemistry they had together. The Paris and Niagara Falls sequences from Lester would indeed have to be used in any eventual fusion cut. |

It’s been over a decade since I watched it but the main problem I had with the Donner cut - aside from the atrocious new CGI / unfinished scenes - was it had the same ending as the first film.

That we should temper our expectations.
Interesting I was reading a review of the original's home video release and it was actually sped up to fit on the cassette, so the USA had a little taste of PAL speed-up without pitch correction! |

But when things between Donner and the Salkinds went south, they decided to use the most spectacular effect for the end of the first one... Donner was right in that decision, as he was fired before he could finish the second movie... |

Go to a Superman II listing, like this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Superman-II...=UTF8&qid=&sr= Click on the formats, the 4k is the S III listing. And in you're on the S III 4K listing the surrounding group is all IIs, the III 4K doesn't show up on Superman III listing's formats. Just noticed that. Misdirection? Mistake? MultiDCuniverse of Madness? ![]() [Show spoiler]

Just watch the ABC TV cut of Superman II. You will NEVER get a perfect version of Superman II thanks to the Salkinds. It will always have to borrow from each director's version of the film. None of it is perfect, but that's the only way to get anything that jibes with the ending of the first film as it stands. |

Easiest ending that is probably stated in this thread already is as follows:
1. Defeat villains 2. Extended footage of taking the villains away 3. Breakup at Fortress and Balcony 4. Jimmy's new camera maybe? 5. Bully at Diner 6. Return flag 7. End credits Lois knows, best ending, STM stays as it is, Superman II ends with them breaking up but keeping Lois in the know. |
