But instead I read that they blew the fix! ![]() Same thing with shuttle -- it takes off. I doubt if I would have followed it till the scene ended. It's nice people scrutinize this stuff but it's not the kind of error that bugs me. In ST 3 they needed a shot of a tree being uprooted near Saavik and they randomly inserted a shot of a tree being uprooted with a Klingon in the shot! At a time when the Klingons were still miles away. They had to have noticed a big Klingon in the shot by they figured the fans won't notice. Really, Saavik doesn't look much like a Klingon does she. A purposeful (unless they were blind) shot thrown in just to get a certain shot that they didn't have, but felt they needed. And then later when the Ent bridge explodes a Klingon goes flying and a stagehand reaches across the entire frame and tries to catch him. I know they couldn't reshoot that scene and they had no CGI back then to erase him but by trimming a few frames they could have edited the arm out. Love him or hate him "1970s guy" was clearly not meant to be seen at the tram station in TMP and yet there he is. So 3 frames of green/orange switch -- not going to ruin my enjoyment at all. |

As far as the "classic slightly orangey sheen," I keep noticing skin tones lacking pink and pushed a bit into orange clay pot range on classic (60s-90s) pre-HDR movies that are regraded for HDR. Oddly, I also notice it on the accompanying Blu-ray disc in SDR if there is one. However I won't notice it on an early Blu-ray release of the same movie (no HDR grading). It's often just the occasional scene where this stands out. It's just enough to give me the sense that the color just isn't right. It's not on every HDR title either. The color in the Back to the Future trilogy HDR 4K looks great to me. It makes me wonder if there is something in the HDR grading that just isn't resulting in quite the right color when scanning certain film stocks. |

It doesn't always protect the purchased item any better as the orangutans working at UPS seem to sense the challenge and go even further out of their way to destroy the package. Ironically, the gift bag itself always arrives in great shape. ![]() Of course, this is Amazon and there often seems to be little rhyme or reason as to how they do things and our experiences with them vary widely. |

Oh me neither. That was nothing personal. All good.

Thats what i said too. I just found the "Fanboy Edit" term a bit to harsh because for me to call it a "Fein Fanboy Edit" it would have needed much more changes in comparison with the 2001 edit. For me honestly the Directors Cut even 2001 was revisionism anyway. Yeah all that talk about "We wanna do it like we would have done it in the 70ties" was there but Vger was Full CGI back in 2001 and also several other additions. So it never looked like it was done in the 70ties ![]() Of course that was totally acceptable because you cant expect them to build an old fashioned model and do it like 1979 ![]() I love that they used the original Vger Design Concept cause the intent was ALWAYS to show the damn thing. But i was always ok with it not looking like its done in 1979 because its impossible to achieve in my opinion when you redo effects with modern CG technology. But in 2001 they did most of the things tastefully even if it looked way more modern than the 1979 original stuff in parts. In 2022 they lost that taste for me only with the Lounge Scene. Other things (for example Vulcan matte paintings, VGer Walk finale) are looking even better than 2001 which is a good thing (for me). In the end its like i wrote: Matter of personal taste. I hope you watch it soon. Would be interesting to read your thoughts after you saw it. |

I prefer the Director's Cut but... there is one thing that always bugs me... I prefer the original Red Alert klaxon. I don't know why the klaxon was changed.

That Klaxon Is good for super critical situations that don't require dialogue. But when dialogue is being uttered, I don't think it meshes with dialogue at all. The sound design when the Enterprise is first attacked by V'Ger sounds way more Star Trek than that 'sound effects overload' from the original theatrical version.

It looks to me like the U.K. release got actual bumper stickers, but the USA set got "laptop stickers" that recreate the style of bumper stickers, as described in the fine print on the back of the box. Another difference I noticed in an unboxing video, that guy's poster was folded in half twice; mine was only folded in half once. Why the difference?

[Also, considering all the other ridiculous alternative words Brits use, like "boot," "bonnet," and "lorry," you'd think they'd have a different word for "bumper."] |

These bumper, or laptop, or whatever you want to call them stickers are only 6" long by 1.75" high.
