There's so much television shows on various streaming services that I am not afraid that those shows will go anywhere. Why? A lot of them are proprietary like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, for example. They released the complete series a few months ago, but why would I buy it if it's on Netflix forever? Netflix isn't going anywhere. There are a lot of shows like that on other streaming services -- you can watch them on streaming and save all that money on BD sets and whatnot for other things.
Uh oh. You earned yourself a penguin pecking now.

Did TOMMY show up on any of those Sony surveys? I know I included it as a write-in once.

I get the sentiment, but for me, it's just the cost of it. It's too much money.

The X Files is the only tv series box set I own on BD. Would love to have Lost, but the cost for a set now is too much.

Its a bit of a cult favorite, given the quality of the BD review it would be outstanding on 4K with Atmos mix.

IMBD technical

At the time of the Sep 07, 2010 BD released they said this.
Quote:
Sony says the version of Ken Russell’s “Tommy” on Blu-ray comes “newly restored and remastered” for its Sept. 7 release.
The original 5.0 “quintaphonic” soundtrack returns from previous DVD versions, this time rendered in lossless audio. The regular Dolby 5.1 mix also has been remastered.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is owned by Universal, not Netflix. There is no guarantee that it will always be on Netflix. Plus there are plenty of things in that show (and most shows) that people may find offensive in the future. Only the discs are safe from censorship or other modification.

Because I do not buy used sh** from fleabay aka bootleg central... except as a last chance on all of Earth resort and even then only for something that I can not live without.

I can live, and live well, without Arrow.

Go patch your video games.

I've bought from that seller many times and never received a bootleg. eBay is a great resource to try out a season of all the myriad of TV shows that aren't available on Netflix.

I've patched dozens of Steam games over the last 11 years and they all play just fine. All 174 of them.

I know there are some legit sellers on ebay, but I do not care to spend my time combing through a den of thieves looking for the occasional honest seller.

We're meant for each other.

Trying out a season of a TV show on an SVOD, or TV, is an even greater, and cheaper resource...with no chance of supporting piracy in the process.

In my experience counterfeit DVDs are extremely common but you'll generally only get counterfeit Blu-ray discs when you buy from non-US based sellers (which I never do). I've also never encountered any counterfeiters selling used discs.

In order to stream at decent quality I'd have to pay an extra $50 per month to upgrade my internet speeds. That most certainly would not be cheaper than buying a season on disc and selling it if I don't like it.

I've never encountered any problems patching video games or updating disc player firmware. You try my perfect software patching experience and I'll try your perfect fleabay shopping experience.

I never said there were any problems patching video games. I just know that someday those patches will be unavailable. It's apparantly already happened with some PS3 games:

You only need about 25 Mbps download to easily stream 4K content from any SVOD out there; where do you live? On the moon?

I live in a tiny arse village and even we have gigabit service here, but I only pay $69.99 per month for the 100+ Mbps service. The absolute barebones cheapest plan offered here costs $40 per month and even that allows for 4K streaming.

My internet speed is advertised as being 75 Mbps but I rarely get more than 16 Mbps and even that's inconsistent. It's plenty for browsing but on the rare occasion when I download something it takes quite a long time.

Real gamers play on computer rigs, not kiddie konsoles.

All of my hundreds of patched games, including from GOG, Steam, and elsewhere, all work fine after years and years of updating. All of my games are fully installed, patched up to date, and ready to go with a simple mouse click.

Not to worry; we'll send alchav over ASAP to fix that for you.

You'll have to excuse me now; I gotta get back to watching Arrow on Netfish. I've made it to the season 5 finale.

Wrong.

Quote:
In a highly unusual move, Netflix has bought the rights to a television comedy from Universal Television that was originally set to debut on NBC next year.

The show – “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” – was developed by Universal Television for NBC last spring and heavily promoted when the network unveiled its fall schedule to advertisers last May. Both Universal Television and NBC are units of Comcast Corp .

In a statement, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said the network’s lineup is filled with dramas and that the show would have a better chance to find on audience on Netflix, which made a two-year commitment to Universal Television.
