Lucasfilm still had the film rights though. He's not wrong about that. Somehow, Lucas managed to hold onto them over time, and they hadn't reverted back like many other properties.

Part of the problem I have with that end credit scene is that He (and you know who I'm talking about) looks terrible. It looks like it was thrown together. They should have just used the original movie version -- I would have gotten more of a laugh.

Curious. I was unaware that Lucasfilm still owned the rights.

did look more like the comic book version then the movie? which is probably better overall now that they can use cgi for it.

The people online who are up in arms about his inclusion crack me up. They only remember him from the terrible 80's film, but the character in the comics is absolutely fantastic. This is definitely the place to introduce him. Come on, this is the movie with the gun toting, talking raccoon and a talking tree. He fits right in! I'm so happy to see Howard the Duck is officially a part of the MCU!

First off, that 80's film isn't terrible . It's fantastic and gave us the ridiculously hot Lea Thompson in her heyday.

Second, that design is terrible. What's wrong with how he looked back in the 80's? If you want to make that immediate connection, they should've used the puppet from the film.

[Show spoiler]They don't want people to make a connection with that film...That's the point. This design looks just like he did from the comics. That's why I'm so happy. The movie destroyed the source material and all the things I love about the comics. It has its moments, but it's a really bad film overall, even if I do love Lea Thompson. This design, and the way it's being handled, is exactly as it should be. I couldn't be happier with how it looks. Whatever, let people complain, I'm happy with it.
