There is one way there could have been a sequel:

Call the first one EXTRACTION and the sequel INCEPTION.

That's it.

Nolan could have made the first one about the art of stealing idea's in a dream, and simply called it EXTRACTION. If it was successful, he could have gone on to make the sequel about implanting ideas in a dream, and called it INCEPTION.

The benefit of doing two movies that way would have been two-fold:

1) The audience would have loved the basic concept of going in to a dream, stealing idea's, running from the targets projections (villains), sedatives keeping everyone under, multiple dream-levels, architecture, and kicks...etc

2) By the time Nolan did the sequel about implanting idea's, everyone would be on board. "Oh cool! It's the same concept as the movie EXTRACTION, but now some rich guy wants them to plant an idea instead of steal one"

I don't think we'll see a sequel to Inception unless Nolan's possessed with an idea for a sequel...which I don't see.

While the world can be expanded upon greatly, you lose the uniqueness of this film by doing sequels. And personally, I just don't want Inception to lose that.

And considering how we left Cobb, who would be our anchor in the sequel?

[Show spoiler]By the way, anyone share the theory that this is all a long con, therapy session orchestrated by Miles with Ariadne as his extractor?

No, you get an Alien prequel.

I am unsatisfied with my own answer. Can anyone tell me their thoughts ?!?!
The other people in dreams are projections of the subconscious (Fisher's I think). So the dreamer can't control them. And in this case, he'd been trained so his projections were militarized.

Which then brings up the problem of how...

the Team survived for so many days after the 'van plunge' on level 1 waiting for the kick back to plane.

Well, they were well experienced/trained themselves, and aside from Saito avoided getting mortally wounded.

Also, I'm guessing the gambit they played with telling Fisher he was dreaming and they were there to protect them bought them time and got his subconcious to back off some until they got up to the snow level and doing the actual Inception.

Hmmm...I don't know.

We are talking like waiting about six days for the 'kick back', and the first day that they were there, they were under constant assault almost continuously, plus they have that newbie(Ariadne) tagging along with them also.

[Show spoiler]it's obvious it's still a dream at the end, unless the kids are still the exact same age and are in the exact same position as he remembers AND is in the exact same clothes. the point is he doesnt care if it's a dream or not cause all he ever wanted was to be with his kids, thats why he walked away from the totem cause dream or reality he's where he wants to be. BAM!!!
not true because when they went to get fisher in limbo Maul had the kids and called them over and Cobb didn't want to them and said that's not our kids .

It's an action movie. Do you also question how John Rambo also survives?

It's not like this is mean to be a realistic movie.

Just out of curiosity...

Has anyone else had any playback issues with the INCEPTION Blu-Ray? I have the FYE Steelbook Exclusive (not sure if that matters since the content is still the same as the regular combo-pack) and just played it for the fist time earlier today.

Most of it was fine and dandy...great sound, excellent picture...but throughout the viewing, starting at least 50 or so minutes into it, it would freeze briefly and then resume.

It could be my player (Samsung BD-P2550), but I haven't noticed any other playback issues on other movies anytime recently...so I figured I'd post to ask.

The disc itself looks fine too, no dust or scratches and such.

So yeah...anyone else have any similar problems?

I can’t believe the graphic on the loading screen is not the spinning totem!

What an over sight! Can only blame the idiot that did the Blu-ray authoring.

So many Blu-ray loading screens have an icon or graphic (or something having to so with the film) growing or filling up or rotating on the loading screen while we wait. Yet, here we are with a perfect opportunity to utilize the spinning totem, and... NOTHIN'!!@!

Yep, I was thinking of exactly the same thing while it was loading. Opportunity lost.

Has anyone got an Amazon/eBay/etc. link for the Central and Eastern Europe Bluray edition?

I can't find it anywhere but I want to buy it so badly for Christmas.

I'm looking for the disc with Bulgarian/Romanian/Greek/Serbian/Turkish, etc subtitles. But specifically Bulgarian

No, but I saw (500) DAYS OF INCEPTION, a sequel starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, where he gets stuck in limbo for 500 days in dream-time (only 41.6 days in real time) by mistake. It's a hybrid of (500) Days of Summer and Inception

Samsung players suck. Get a Sony or Panasonic.

I guess I have to wait again. Just decided to get this with another copy for my friend, but now it's $24.99 on Amazon.
