Yeah I've also read a few "Proffesional" reviews that contradict each other. Reviews are reviews for speakers just like anything else - restauraunt critics.. same thing one critic will say everything was different Im a good way but another will say it's nothing specail like any other place.

You're welcome anytime but after landing at the Edmonton Airport it's another 3.5 hour drive

I did offer my place to my dealer for future Studio demos since he didn't carry them at the time but he ordered the 100's a month after I told him to at least get 20's for the store. I guess I convinced him enough that they would sell . I had to demo them in Edmonton then buy locally..

Ill go with my second option as I can audition them in a much better and smaller room then what I heard them in. My Totem Dealer carries them so I will give them a try on an MCA20 amp and see waht they really can do..

The bed is about 18 inches from the wall, it would be hard to angle a set of RC Mini's at the lp. I thought about some Paradigm Cinema's but the Energy's are much better for about the same money I think. I'll probably go with the smallest SVS sealed sub, any advice or comments?
I'm really enjoying them. They're not used often but when they are the presence is felt much more then when I had the ADP-390's behind. I think for that distance they are perfect. I didn't want to mount a bookshelf either which is why I chose the RC-R's since they are like a flatter bookshelf that can do what bipoles/dipoles do at the same time. Futureshop has had crazy prices on them off and on lately too! I also think a nice small sealed sub would be perfect for a bedroom. SVS does have a new lineup coming up that would suit your needs.

India/Bollywood Energy C500 vs Monitor Audio M6

Hello Firends

I am looking to buy a HT setup and have shortlisted below setups based on my budget.

1. Monitor Audio (New budget model. specs not avail on website)
M6 Towers
M1 Surrounds
MCentre
MSW10 Subwoofer
Denon 1911

2. Energy Speakers
C500 Towers
C-C50 Centre
C100 Surround
ESW10 Subwoofer
Marantz 5004

I have auditoned some towers and shortlisted above sets. MA was very smooth and detailed in highs whereas Energy had deep and accurate bass.
In Movies, MA was slighty dissapointment with Vocals. Energy was very accurate. Maybe because of AV settings.

I will be using HT for both Movies and Music, 50:50. In music, most of time, i listen POP and Jazz.

Can anybody give me suggestion on above models. Unfortunately i could not audition MA with Marantz and Energy with Denon so got confused. Kindly advise

Thanks !!

Well first I would go with what sounds best to you!

Is this what you are reffering too?
http://www.usedvictoria.com/classifi...akers_12878458

I am not at all familiar with the M series you are referring to, so its difficult to say. I have heard the MA RS6s, and they were a very good speaker, a little to forward sounding for me on the top end, but had good bass and mid-range. The Energys(I have the smaller C-300s) to me have a great highs that are more laidback then the MAs, very good mid-range, but lack in the bass department compared to the MA RS6s.

To me, from what I have heard, the MAs are more dynamic, and the Energys are more balanced. It really is about what appealed the most to you. What you find best to your ears.

Here is an article discussing the new Veritas line. The V 6.3 looks oddly familiar though.

I can't take full credit, I got the link from someone over at AVS.

Have you heard the RC-70 before? As similar as the V 6.3 looks to the 70, I'm slightly concerned that the new Veritas line may just be a repackaged RC line. Albeit a few aesthetic differences.

I have been telling you guys theres a new veritas line coming....

Justin, the $4000 price that was thrown out there is similar to the old 2.4's, it would seem odd that the RC-70s would be repackaged and then sold at two times the cost. Plus the RC series uses kevlar, and this one is said to use woven fiberglass, much like the the old veritas and the current CF series. The reference to the large magnet also has me wondering if it will be a much harder speaker to drive, say a 6 or 4 ohm load, which none of the current speakers are. In that case, it wont be anything like the RC series... even tho the boxes and design look the same... Another thing is there are no fasteners on the front of the speakers face, which would imply a single fastener on the back of the cabinet allowing for less vibrations and colouration.

It sounds like a very well designed speaker. I would love to hear them. It doesn't look like the best speaker in the world... but then the picture is small and who knows, I didn't think the CFs looked very good either until I saw it in person.

You make a lot of great points. My concerns were mostly based on the looks of the speaker and the head designer for the RC and older Veritas line no longer being with the company.

In any case, I hope one of the Energy dealers in town gets a pair in, I'd love to give them a listen.

Justin I have heard tyhe RC-70 and it<s quite good let me tell you that much I think this is superior to the current RC and we'll see only time will tell, let's not forget about the fact that th economy is not all that great but I think this Veritas will be quite surprising some elements have been improoved apparently over the older generation we'll have to wait.

I wonder if they have changed the damping material inside the cabinet.

Anyhow I'm optimistic, most people were disapointed when they heard the new conoisseurs for the first time as they seemed to be quite bright but when they are before break in they do are the total opposite of what the previous line was the current ones tone down with time as the old one opened up.

Justin,

Energy developed the RC series with John Tchilinguirian only operating as a consultant. So technically they were the original speaker made w/o him. The C series was the last one he was actually apart of.
Quote:
Until recently, Energy was one of several brands owned and operated by Audio Products International of Toronto, Canada. (The others included Mirage, Athena, and Spherex.) Now the API brands have been merged into Klipsch of Indianapolis, Indiana, creating a new fusion of Canadian design and American ownership. John Tchilinguirian, the longtime lead designer for the brand, has moved on to independent consulting. That makes the Energy RC-70 towers, RC-LCR (serving as center), and RC-R surrounds partly a chapter from a previous tome and partly the first chapter in a new story.

I'm definitely not going to write them off until some reviews come in (and hopefully get a chance to hear them myself). The first time I heard the CFs they sounded excellent, I guess my dealer gave them the proper break-in.

I stand corrected. I truly hope these will be awesome performers (as the older Veritas lines were) and hope Klipsch didn't force them to cut any corners.

Energy and Mirage and Jamo have full control over design, R&D and cost associated with it. That is what I told by Energy.

what I find the most intriguing is that Energy/Klipsch Group allowed FS to put that on a blog before they made a formal Press Release??!!???!!??!!??!!??!!??!!??!!???????

So Klipsch just bought Energy/Mirage to gain entry to Canadian markets and Jamo for it's European distribution? That's cool they let the individual companies run themselves more of less.

It is surprising. Maybe Energy is planning on making an announcement soon and FS just jumped the gun somewhat.

One other thing I wanted to comment on. You mentioned in your HT thread how some (Rhett in particular though I believe) might find Energy's sound boring because it lacked dynamics.

I don't think they lack dynamics at all.....providing you have a dynamic source to begin with. The speakers aren't going to inflate pre-existing dynamics or create them if they aren't in the source. As we've mentioned before, they have a fairly neutral sound that won't color the sound.

So give them a poor source and you'll get a poor (what some might call boring) sound, but give them a high quality source and you'll get a wonderful sound out of them.

i hope this news will open up for some serious discounts on that RC LCR and curious if the new Veritas will resemble that speaker as well...And this new Veritas line could be good for all current RC owner for maybe a higher bluebook value if the sound doesnt completely blow away the current RC's , people might be more willing to spend a higher premium for existing RC's while still staying well below the bloated Veritas pricing???

API and Jamo had limited distribution channels and were somewhat struggling to get product out there in certian markets. As the klipsch group bought them, it improved those companies distribution and financial backing. Remember, one of the first things Klipsch did was do away with Athena.... a relatively unprofitable company. Energy has always been APIs flagship company, and Mirage was developed years later, this gave those companies better exposure, and are now seen in BB and other Klipsch dealers because those dealers are incentivized to have more KG (klispch group) products on their showroom floors. Granted, there are some dealers that were Energy dealers and now have abandoned Energy because they don't like the KG ownership(I have 2 of these in my area).

The Veritas line was pulled from production because they are an expensive speaker to MFG and sell. With the world economy slowing down it didn't make sence to have this speaker out there on the market(I was told). They also liquidated several of the colors(cherry and Rosenut) to reduce inventory carrying cost of these products, and increase cash flow(I was told). I was told they were reintroducing the Veritas, as for the RC series, Mums the word. But I was told that they like to update lines every 4 years or so as products can become stale... will we see a new RC line this year or early next? IDK, but I would expect that we would see an update not to far away as they are approaching their own time table.

From what I was told R&D departments have to account for their spending, but Klipsch and API all know, you spend a lot before you find the finished product. then you get that perfect product out there to market.

Im sure Energy new that FS would was going to do that... it start generating buzz around the industry. Esp. with a well known company like Energy.
