Yeah, but Grindhouse and Watchmen were considered flops, and 300 wasn't from a cult-director at the time.

It was solid but disappointing. Give it a solid B. Burton and Depp didn't seem to care or try all that hard. More like they were sleeping walking through the role but Chesire and March Hare were the best parts, so great! Script was very bland but the visuals were amazing. Worth seeing for sure but I wont be buying like I was expecting too. Tim Burton has nothing on Lewis Carroll! (And I like Burton)

Tron looks insane. Don't even really know what to think.

I usually trust your opinion so I'll go with you but I'll still see it. Though I want it to be something I want to pick up in the future.

Now that I've been thinking about it, the White Queen
[Show spoiler] seemed to be as evil as the Red Queen. She was putting Alice on a total guilt trip about needing her to slay the Jabberwocky. Then also by her coldness to her sister. But, something also struck me as odd, if the Red Queen is the eldest of the two, she should have been queen in the first place
.

Don't think too deeply about it--Tim was just making the whole darn thing up.

This basically sums up how I felt about the movie as well. It was good, but just seemed to be lacking something. I liked it more then Burton's Willy Wonka adaptation though.

I saw this at the IMAX, and the audio during the Tron trailer was insane!

Yeah man, I am sure you will like it. It was extremely entertaining just was not a great film or anything. There was just something off like Burton and Depp totally weren't in it or the script was just too bland but it still has moments worth watching for sure. All the non human characters are terrific haha.

They probably made it for their kids. I think that's all they care about now.

I have hesitations to see this movie since it's getting mixed reviews.

I think Burton needs to stick to animated flicks. I think Ed Scissorhands was his last great live action film. I haven't seen the Barber one and don't plan to either. Now I know i"ll def be renting this one. Shame too.

I saw this over the weekend and agree almost entirely with Ebert's review. It's a sort of semi-sequel, semi-remake, where the story follows a similar path, but it is very much geared towards an older audience. Depp's character is played as quite literally crazy instead of zany. Ebert didn't like the ending, but I didn't have the quams with it that he did. 3.75/5

Too bad--That one was his least "Burton-y" film, and probably the closest he'll ever get to making "real" films with the rest of the grownups. (Ed and Alice included.)

I saw it in 3-D and I loved the movie. Especially the effects! Besides the recent BBC version of Alice, was there ever another live action version?

Yeah, that ending was silly. Did anyone really care what Alice had decided to "be" once she left wonderland and came back to dunderland?
