You could always sign up for Amazon Prime and get free shipping and then cancel your membership for it. I know some who have done that but I dont usually order from Amazon unless I can find $25 worth of stuff anyways.

Once you place an order and have it ship you can no longer receive a refund for Amazon Prime.

Really? I thought there was a "trial" membership one could open, and they don't get charged unless they stay with the service (after 30 days), but I could be wrong.

Correct. You can sign up for a trial membership and choose not to have it renew at the end of the 30 days. No need for a refund.

You are correct that if you haven't used a free trial membership in the past you can sign up for a 30 day free trial. If you sign up for the actual membership you can't get your money back once you have an order ship. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

Default Whats the difference between the International 2 part version and the extended versio

I noticed that another version of Red Cliff is being offered in Canada which is called the extended version.

How does it differ from the international version? On blu-ray.com the extended version is listed as 282 minutes while the 2 Part Int. version is listed as 288 minutes.

What is missing from the extended version?

The Canadian cuts/discs/sets are the same as the US ones, nothing to worry about. The 2-disc Extended does have a slipcover though & E1 promo trailers, those are the only additions that I can tell.

This is down to $15.99 on Amazon.com right now, I don't recall a time when it was that low. I bought it last summer when it was down to $19.99 but haven't had the time to watch it yet. Blind-buy that I am quite confident I will love based on the genre of film and the massive amounts of positive reviews here and on Amazon.

That is a great price for a great movie.

The forced pre-menu trailers, burnt-in subtitles and only SD extras have turned me off the UK Special Edition. I've read that the US and Australian BDs also have pre-menu content, but is it forced? If the trailers on the Magnolia BDs can skipped just by the shuttle or menu buttons the extra expense is going to be unquestionably worth it. (And might give me the to excuse to get the – slightly, I've read – superior US BD of Flash Gordon along with it…) But I'd be interested to know whether or not the BDs for Australia, New Zealand or Canada suffer from this or not as well.

Down to $8.09 for each individual part at Barnes and Noble.

Part I

Part II

Works out to $16.18 total (even less if you use a 15% off one item coupon like I got via e-mail today and if you get free shipping). Same movie(s) and features, just split into two cases instead of one.

Is there a good description of the differences between the american cut and original cut? Personally, I thought the 2 part version was over-long and quite dull in spots (and I love historical epics). I'm wondering whether the american cut is just a mess...or if it does a good job focusing the plot while keeping all the action.

I tried watching this today but it didn't work on either of my players. On my panasonic, it showed the trailers then went black with the player making very loud noises. After that I threw it into my ps3. At first it said can't play the video. So I tried again and got through the trailers and started the movie. For some reason it skipped to 10 minutes in. I tried rewinding it a couple times but it just skipped ahead to 10 minutes in. I bought the 2 disc international version from amazon. My ps3 is fully updated. Is the disc bad or is it something else? Any help is appreciated thanks.
