You're giving them an awful, awful lot of wishful-thinking credit for "thinking out" what could've just been an accident, and very likely end up as one.
Why do they seemed forced? You're just assuming they are trying to force them into the MCU. This is all just a big guessing game until it's done. We can assume a lot of things until we see the film. But they don't seem that forced, all things considered, because Feige has been hinting at a 'Guardians' movie for a long time now...That seems pretty well thought out.

And we already have FF and Green Lantern as examples that studios going "funny" with a superhero project is the first sign of surrender.
They have an Ant Man film they could of fast tracked instead of this.

I would tend to think like Foggy and Walt on this one.

Unless they would have a brilliant concept and script, I don't think that Mavel would be foolish enough to launch a heavy-on-SFX out-of-this-world little known franchise... Not when they have so many tried and true franchises (including now DD that they got back from Fox).
Heck, if GotG wasn't so (theorically) solid, they would probably rather be pushing a Dr Strange or Black Panther film on the forefront (although those are very likely).

I agree that it is a lot of speculation whether it will be good or not, whether it is forced or not. But I have all the evidence I need in this number: 6/6. I have loved every Marvel Studios film so far. I'm not blind to the imperfections of the films or the ways they could have been better; however, I had very high hopes and expectations for all of them and each time they exceed my expectations. Those who have disliked some of the films so far can worry all they want. Until Marvel drops a bad film, I will trust they will make the right moves.

I would be happy to see that. I still prefer Jim Sturgess or Lee Pace. And I want him to be The Flash! But I would gladly accept him in this film as well.

Latino Review are reporting that Marvel are thinking of Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler for a role in the film. Which role, they don't know, but speculation seems to veer towards voicing Rocket Raccoon or possibly Groot.

Carrey? Yes. Sandler? I'd prefer not.

They are also adding Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell and Cam Gigandet to the list of actors up for Peter Quill.

I doubt it's Groot, why would they get a name actor to voice a character who barely speaks?

Why can't they just get Steve Buscemi to voice Rocket Raccoon?

The whole time I was reading Annihilation Conquest anytime RR showed up Buscemi's voice popped in my head.

And MFing NO to Wes Bentley that guy is the worst thing about Ghost Rider.

Man, Marvel is really having a hard time casting this movie. Come on, guys, this is getting ridiculous. Find someone and pull the trigger to cast them.

Hell no to Sandler and Bentley. They don't belong anywhere near this movie.

This. Everything about this.

First, getting a little annoyed constantly getting potential casting updates with no actual casting taking place. Let's get going here.

Secondly, if Adam Sandler even so much as does a voice in this thing, I am going to be troubled at the direction they are going.

They did the same thing for Captain America. The reports kept saying it was down to Mike Vogel and John Krasinski and both were being brought back for numerous auditions. They ended up going with Chris Evans whose name name had never even been mentioned AT ALL from what I can remember.

Holy God, seriously? I obviously wasn't paying much attention to the casting of Captain America. I can't even begin to imagine Krasinski playing that role.

I'm so glad they went with Evans, I don't think I could take Cap seriously if Krasinski got the part.

Same here. I think he's done a fantastic job with the role. I honestly think the reason John Krasinski didn't get the part is because his head would've looked downright awful on that tiny pre-super soldier serum body.

500 is right, they did it then for that movie as well. But this seems even more over the top than it did then. Maybe I'm wrong, but the casting for this seems like it's taking forever. I just want an answer already.

It makes me wonder if Marvel and James Gunn both have ideas on who should get the parts and there's some conflicts between the two. No reason it should be taking this long.

Unless they DID have some definite choices and they fell through or something.

I'm wondering the same thing. What lends this to happening is the fact that Gunn shot down so many of the rumors, meaning those might have been actors that Marvel wanted, but he did't. I really don't know what, or who, to expect at this point. I guess it's just a waiting game at this point, but with us being just over a year and a half left until the movie opens, we really need some definite news sooner rather than later.

I was thinking this also. They may be at odds at the moment and screentesting everyone. As long as their is no Justin Timberlake. Im good.
