Awesome, more Star Wars movies
![]() Who will be the creator. J.J. Ultra Lens Flare Abram's, with every laser and light saber causing dazzling lens flare? Perhaps teaming up with Michael Bay for the most powerful force explosions the universe has ever witnessed? |

Yeah. I imagine we'll start hearing rumblings of a new boxset of the films anyday now.
Since Disney will want to ride the money train of the movies as soon as they can. This might get you people on the fence those individual releases at least you've been craving. |

Oh you know Disney is going to release all the current films under their own banner pretty soon. Probably just in time for Christmas 2013.

I don't think that Disney deserves hate for this - after all, they didn't do it simply for Star Wars (but probably mostly) but just to own everything that Lucas holds dear. It makes perfect business sense for them, at a time when they've just acquired Marvel and know they'll be rolling in it, to try and have a crack at buying other big ventures.
Put this on the thread originally posted, but whether this turns out to be a good move will remain to be seen - remember, with owning SW rights, Disney might not just stick to continuing the franchise but remaking the original trilogy, which would be horrible... ...that said, they could now release the original cut of the first three on blu-ray, so it might work out fine! |

Does this mean that the original theatrical versions of The Star Wars Trilogy can finally be restored & released on Blu-Ray since Lucasfilm/Star Wars will be under new management?

And if Marvel is any indication, Disney for the most part will be rather hands off on things. Quote:

Disney was a VFX pioneer, and the studio was considered the pre-eminent f/x house in the world until Walt died and the studio began to founder. Harrison Ellenshaw (The Empire Strikes Back) is the son of Peter Ellenshaw, who did mattes for Disney going back to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in 54. ILM is a great brand, I would think Disney's vfx arm would be folded into ILM, but we'll see.

Awesome! I'm so excited!
I was angry when Disney bought Marvel, then began to enjoy Marvel more than ever before. Disney's picture quality is unparalleled in my opinion, as well as their quality control. They always say the best Star Wars films are the ones not directed by George Lucas, so I'm really looking forward to Episode 7. Yeah, the Thrawn trilogy, Corellian trilogy, Jedi Academy Trilogy... these are all great. But a new Star Wars film has always been something... new. Hopefully the best elements of the books and comics are incorporated, with plenty of surprises as well. I'm a happy man this morning. |

At least they did not lowball him. That's apple money.
I am not sure how I feel about this. Disney is more interested in making money than Lucas was, and at times at the expense of the film. Hopefully they actually get a good writer, instead of just pumping something out, for a huge profit. I hope they don't. |

That's different, John has done all the Star Wars movies, Potter was still in progress, plus John was composing Revenge of the Sith when Potter 4 was in production, and then he couldn't do the rest of the Potter films because David Yates had a different directing style and could not produce a rough copy of the films in time for John to compose the music
