Cowboy Bebop is not a great release! It's brighter than the Japanese release and they've applied DNR. Plus, of course, the bitrate is much lower, given the lower disc count.

Meh, KIJA-6 just a vinyl LP of music content that already exists in its entirety on CD. Then again, you've already got some Evangelion music content on an obsolete format (i.e. the "Symphony of Evangelion" LD) so you can do what you want!
I just wish I wasn't late in starting DVD-AUDIO but at least I have Asuka

The rest of them are too damn expensive for even used copies. They must have the plans for the final production of EVAs and mathematical formulas on building and harnessing the power of N2 mines

I wished I could have everything shipped together honestly wouldn't drive me insane so much but when you can't make up your mind sometimes when you finally do it may bite you in the ass. life sucks sometimes.

Thanks, but I've got all of them (D&R, D&R deluxe, EoE, Symphony of Evangelion, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.0 deluxe) already.

will this have powered flakes come off of it? When I scanned the 2007 boxset it left red marks on it and I never could take it off.

LOL. I was wondering about that as well. I remember that release being notorious for leaving red marks on anything it touches. (Just look at the Amazon reviews.) But the 2003 box had similar packaging and I don't remember problems being reported then, and if I recall correctly, they did have a case replacement program for the 2007 release.

We can only hope that they wouldn't repeat the same mistake this time around. The packaging definitely looks nice though.

I never heard of a replacement program for that. I suppose mine might be rare then?

I just did a quick search for it, and King Records still has the page for the replacement online...

https://cnt.kingrecords.co.jp/form/eva/index.html

I'm actually surprised the page still exists.... I have a feeling they won't actually replace cases any more though (and that's if they even would do the replacement outside of Japan--the form indicates that they may not), so you'll unfortunately probably have to hang on to your "rare" case...

Photo of the outer boxes for both the Blu-ray BOX and Archives DVD BOX.

As you can see from the 2003 "Renewal" DVD BOX, King Record's packing concept of using a brown cardboard outer box + label hasn't changed in the last 12 years...

Hey well, too bad you can't order it from Amazon US, then - they'd just seal the lid shut with tape and slap the mailing label right over top of the label on the lid, and ship it out that way - "eh, that's good enough to get it where it needs to go." Then you'll want to throw the box away...

The reason that the "DVD-BOX 07 Edition" didn't get an outer cardboard box is because it was a "compact" and "stylish" (their words, not mine) budget re-release which cost ¥29400 instead of the ¥41790 that the 2003 "monolith" box retailed for.

When you look at the 2007 re-release (pictured below), it was really centered around cost-reduction. It used 6x dual-disc thinpaks and a really thin plastic box, and even eschewed the "Data of Evangelion" booklet that came with its 2003 predecessor (let alone the 14x "Eva no Tomo Kai" broadsheets!).

It's not like customers weren't given a choice back in 2007, though. There was a reprint of the 2003 "monolith" box (catalog no. NBD-91001) sold in September 2007 via a Yahoo!JAPAN web storefront for the same ¥41790 that it went for back during its original 2003 release. The only way to tell it apart from the 2003 release is that the sticker on the outer cardboard box is red, unlike the original pressing's black.

so that was the reason. I might have to pick up the 2003 one. I thought they were the same as far as the contents went.

I wonder if there is AA type group for Evangelion. I need it badly

The on-disc contents are virtually identical (the only difference is the bonus features disc for the 2007 release has a trailer for Eva 1.0 added).

Can't help you there, as I've got my own Eva-afflction to deal with (namely home video releases). I'm just lucky that I'm not a figurine collector, as they get very expensive (especially the nice RAH ones).

All I really want is a subbed release of Eva in "Japanasese quality". That's all I need to satiate my Eva thirst.

And I want world peace. And a pony!

We're both equally unlikely to ever get what we want...
