Can't wait to get this. I was just going to get part III but decided to get the entire set seeing how cheap it is. October and Halloween are going to be awesome this year with all the great stuff coming out. I might actually have to start my scary movie watching in September to get it all in.

I will watch part II again just to see if it has gotten any worse (I don't see how it possibly could) and the two newest ones will be a first time viewing.

Cemetery Dance is planning publication of six of my screenplays [note: listed in a previous update], including my first draft of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. We're casting THE EXORCIST play in hopes of a Broadway run. Next week I MIGHT have some word on THE EXORCIST mini-series. I'll tune you in."

Don't know who is releasing it, but hopefully it will be full restored, contain the various cuts and some compelling extras.
Awesome news.

It's such an underrated movie.

I ended up pre-ordering this for $17.91 from FYE during that sale this past weekend. I may not love all the films in the franchise, but that's such a no brainer deal.

I really hope the Amazon pre-order price goes down. I missed it while it was still in the $20 range.

Is there anything exclusive to the Blu-ray version of this Anthology? Any new features? I'm not sure the upgrade in visual fidelity is worth the $36 MSRP, especially since I already own the anthology on DVD, as well as the original Blu-ray release of the first film.

But who's actually going to be selling it for $36? I've got my pre-order locked in a $25 and I bet it gets close to $20 near release date and goes sub-twenty within a year.

I'm not expecting anything new, or even the 3rd disc of the most recent Exorcist 1973 set. But it's still a bargain to me get all 6 (5 and 1/2 or whatever) movies in one spot for these prices.

+1 its the same for me. I ordered to get the rest of the films on blu. It would be nice if they threw some extras on with the sequels, but thats not what i ordered the set for.

Here's a cool behind the scenes shot....

This second Behind the scenes shoot appeared in my very first article that was printed in FANGORIA MAG. I interviewed the physical effectsman, Marcel Vercoutere - that's him in back of Linda, the guy with the beard.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos, would love to see more!

The two scenes with Regan complaining of "funny noises" (first one takes place in her bedroom right after we're introduced to her, the second in the study as seen in the photo above) were both filmed, and both present in the original workprint of the film. That was the version that Blatty approved of, and he confirmed this information to me a couple of years ago.

Notice when Chris puts Regan back in her room after she complains of her bed shaking, it cuts to a quick shot of her in bed listening to the noises as Chris goes up into the attic. Regan's wearing a pink nightgown, and in the previous shots it was blue. This is because that was actually from the second "funny noises" deleted scene.

The official promotional material lists $36 as the price, and Amazon is showing it as that right now... so I thought it was a safe bet that people that didn't get their pre-orders in early enough will be paying $36.

Come the day before release, if the pre-order price hasn't gone down into the 20s, I'll probably just cancel it and wait.

These scenes were indeed filmed. I watched a cut of this film back in aug of 2006 on cinemax and these scenes were part of that print among others. Couldnt believe what i was seeing. The cut was 3 hrs.

I actually think $36 is a fair price, but I wouldn't want to pay it either knowing that others were paying $11 less. And I own the 2-Disc Digibook already too.

It seems to me that outside the boutique companies (Magnolia, Shout Factory, etc) pre-order prices are almost always met and often exceeded by the release date though. I can't imagine this release won't follow that trend.

Well to be honest I'm quite doubtful of that. Are you sure you're not mixing it up with another film, or something you saw in a documentary?

Those scenes never made it past the workprint, so if by some incredibly slim chance Cinemax got hold of that and broadcast it, the quality would not only be poor but it would be missing all the sound effects, Mercedes McCambridge's demon voice, optical effects, etc.

Burke's death scene was never filmed nor even written in any way (confirmed by Blatty).

I have to say I'm way more excited to hear that the Ninth Configuration is finally coming to Blu-Ray than I am about this Anthology. I'm very curious to find out who is producing the Blu-Ray. Blue Dolphin did an admirable job with the UK DVD, but to my knowledge they are no longer making new DVD's or Blu Rays.
I'm really hoping that someone like Criterion/Scream/Arrow will get hold of the rights and do it justice. Several cuts of the film exist and it would be great if we could get more than the one we already have on DVD released to home viewing.
