But Disney doesn't do UV, Vudu doesn't play in HD on Android tablets (and didn't join DMA till after Google Play), and iTunes doesn't do Android at all; the No. 1 complaint about DMA in its early iTunes-exclusive period was lack of Android support. Google Play will play in HD on Android tablets that are properly configured for HD, including both of mine (GT Pro & Nook HD).

Really? I thought it was the other way around, VUDU first. I could be mistaken though.

About Android tablets, is there a DMA app? There's one on iOS, and it's pretty good when you want to let a kid use your tablet to watch movies but want to keep it restricted to just Disney/Pixar/Marvel movies. The DMA app also gives you some bonus content that VUDU and Google Play doesn't have. Exclusive content that even iTunes doesn't have (like DMA exclusive shorts)

The DMA app for Android came out the same time Google Play joined.

Google Play Store is on every Android device, like iTunes Store is on every iOS app. Vudu doesn't come preloaded on most devices. Hence by adding Google Play before Vudu it ensured that Android users would instantly have a built in store they could buy DMA eligible films from (no other app needed), and then made it possible to debut the DMA Android app.

Ironically, back when I had a Android phone with 4.1 Jelly Bean, I couldn't even use the Vudu Android app as Tablets were the only device supported at the time (now Vudu supports both Android phones and tablets).

The only platform that DMA would gain by adding Amazon Instant Video is the Fire OS operating devices (since they don't have the Google Play Store nor does Vudu have a App officially for the Fire OS devices). But I guess it's certainly possible considering how many households have Kindle Fire tablets.

Both the Vudu app and Disney movie anywhere app can be side loaded on a Kindle fire. (Not officially "supported" but works with no issue. It does not require rooting or sideloading of any Google libraries).

I actually find it nice that Disney has decided to support all the multiple platforms finally making up for the initial IOS support only.

FamilyVideo.com has a preorder available for $23.99, and our first look at what the cover will probably be. It's more like 101 Dalmatians, which is fine.

The UPC appears to be 786936844399.

http://www.familyvideo.com/catalog/p...ucts_id=449339

[Show spoiler]

UPDATE: The Blu-ray.com listing currently have new covers being uploaded, so someone should be able to post a higher resolution image of the cover.

Sears.com also has a preorder for $26.99. It's possibly only good to consider if you have the $10 off purchase of $20 or more coupon code that expires this weekend (and you can't think of anything else to get).

According to Stitch Kingdom, a digital release will occur on September 29 prior to the October 13 BD release date (which makes Aladdin probably the first Diamond Edition release to get a earlier digital release than the BD release).

Quote:
The home video release will be in 1:33:1 aspect ratio and available as 7.1 DTS-HDMA / 1.0 Dolby Digital (English); 5.1 DTS-HDHR (French) & 5.1 Dolby Digital (Spanish) with English (ESL/SDH), French and Spanish

Apparently, the author of the website realized it was a mistake and said he corrected it (although I haven't seen a correction yet). It's probably 1.78:1 if past Disney releases are any indication.

Yeah, not a fan of the oval, but at least it's silver instead of gold. The silver ones look far better than the gold ones.

Or letterboxed 1.85:1, like the international version

OH yeah definitely!!
It kind of blends in a bit with the silver at least
Whereas the gold just makes those look horrible

Pleasantly surprised by that cover but I'd still rather have full art. Love the blue logo though. Nice.

I really don't like the oval designs that we've been forced to get. I liked it better when we had the choice of BD+DVD and BD+DVD+DC, as the BD+DVD always had a more traditional design.

Considering Disney's reluctance to release ANYTHING in 3D in the US after the trainwreck release of Oz: The Great and Powerful, it really isn't surprising at all.
