![]() ![]() They didn't win that miami championship without help, but thats for a different convo. I really can't stand the love they get, at least other teams have to earn their love fest (maybe not ND), Ohio state just has to win one game and they get loved on and all the beat downs and close games they have vs. decent and quality teams doesn't matter. The good thing is all the love they get, they will continue to get beat down if they get the chance to play quality sec/big 12 teams, maybe even some pac-10 and acc teams. I'm hoping Barkley will be able to man up and beat them but he's a freshman so it doesn't matter. GO USC. I'd love to see mIch and rich rod give them an A** whipping this year at the big house. *oh side note re-watch the florida osu NC game, lol after that ted ginn td they go "the long lay off doesn't matter WOW WOW, exc. Then when they catch a beat down "oh it had to be the lay off" ![]() Last edited by supersix4; 09-10-2009 at 05:42 PM. |

Some great points Beta Man. I think Ohio State might have a chance against USC Saturday though because it is USC true freshmen quarterback Matt Barkley's first road start, and it is in arguably one of the five hardest stadiums to play in. Barkley has a reputation for making risky throws so if he has a couple early picks he could struggle to regain his composure. Even though I am a Big 10 fan I hope Ohio State loses though. I don't want Ohio State (or Penn State) to embarrass the conference again in the National Title game. If Penn State goes undefeated and makes the National Title game it will prove that there is no point in playing anyone in the non-conference schedule.
I wouldn't expect Ohio State to play Cincinnati anytime soon. Their scheduling philosophy seems to be one hard non-conference game a year and three cupcakes. In the past they played Texas and now they've played USC, and they have future home and home series scheduled with Miami (Florida), California, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. I was really impressed with Cincinnati against Rutgers though. I thought Rutgers had a good chance at winning the league and that Cincinnati was rebuilding but they put a whooping on Rutgers and they'd definitely be my pick now in the Big East. |

While it is true that the pass interference call was questionable in the National Title game if there was instant replay that play wouldn't have even happened. Chris Gamble made a catch where video showed he clearly had a foot down that would have given them a first down and they could have run the clock out but the ref called it incomplete. They then had to punt and Miami made a game-tying field goal.

I think every analyst on ESPN picked Rutgers to win the Big East. Looks like you'll be right picking Cinci. I just don't think there's any team that could take on their offense. West Virginia? Pitt, maybe?

However, even over on USC's main forum there are polls running about when they will first fumble ![]() If this game was in LA, I think it would be 52-17 USC In the Horse Shoe, maybe 31-24 USC, with OSU scoring 10 points off of turnovers. |

They used to, then Defenses figured it out. Now it is a relegated to situation plays, because any average defense can crush it for a loss 80% of the time against an option offense. Same reason they dont feature it in the NFL.

On to your 2nd silly point about the Miami game. I wish people would get over this game it has been 6 years. Yeah your right that argument is for another day. I have watched that game about 20 times on DVD and anytime you want to CRY about that game let me know and I will let you know how that game shouldn't have seen overtime due to terrible calls by the officials that no one still talks about to this day except Buckeye fans who know the deal about that game. There were two key calls in that game(one towards the end) that leave many Buckeye fans scratching their head and how that game should have ended in regulation. Anyway like I said let me know when you want to whine and I will bring the cheese. Oh yeah, BTW The Buckeyes did win that game over Miami. It says so in the record books. ![]() Last edited by bootsy; 09-11-2009 at 12:48 AM. |

Dennis Dodd wrote in an SI column Jan. 4, 2003: "What was potentially damaging to the Buckeyes was a blown call at the end of regulation. Gamble caught a sideline pass (barely inbounds, replays showed) that was ruled out of bounds. Had officials made the right call, Ohio State would have had a first down and probably run out the clock." Here is a link to some of the other blown calls. I know some of these are sort of nitpicky because calls get missed in most football games http://buckeyefansonly.com/notcalled.html Bottom line to me was Miami was a two TD favorite or something like that going into this game and they had like a 34 game winning streak or something like that. The Buckeyes were not supposed to be close so if Miami handles their business we're not discussing the pass interference(which by the way was the correct call just called late by the ref). The Buckeyes clearly outplayed Miami that night and deserved to win. |
