The part where Wanda seems to wake up for a second and says "No!", rewinding the scene to something much more pleasant to me indicates she's in at least some control here.

So the “modern” or present day sequences look like how all Marvel movies look. The homages look period authentic: the 1950s black and white is gorgeous and has some hints of fuzziness on the edges. The color sequences look beautiful and the 1970s era is very colorful & vibrant like The Brady Bunch. |

Only watched the first episode, but that was brutal to sit through, I can imagine some casual MCU fans just stopping there, it doesn't help that they're going weekly with what feels like a one complete arc (where binging helps). Been vaguely familiar with this storyline (if it's based on what I think it is) helps, but I can see other people lost and not enticed to come back. I know there are little Easter Eggs, but they may be a bit inside baseball for some.
Looked and sounded nice, but for those that see this as Disney+'s next incentive (after The Mandalorian) to keep a subscription it may be a tough sell. |

It's oddly interesting how majority of "negative" or "less than impressed" reviews laud the series as being brilliant and full of charm though largely negate it due to the lack of accessibility. I'm sorry. The MCU has been around for 13 years with a gauntlet of 23 films, along with several notably popular Netflix series and it's own collection of ABC shows. If you're not on the boat now, then you've missed your chance to join in on the fun. Or you have a lot of catching up/research to do. |

Is it someone who simply watched The Avengers movies and skips all the rest? Someone who hasn’t seen any of the Ant-Man movies or only knowledge of the character is through Captain America: Civil War? A person that believes Superman to be an Avenger or thinks that Deadpool is Spider-Man and the X-Men films take place in the MCU? Do they not watch Agents of Shield or the Netflix shows? What exactly is it that makes them classified as “casual?” Because if they’re introduction to Scarlet Witch and Vision were Age of Ultron, I’m sure they’ve watched Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame; meaning they are versed in the specific characters existence and backstory, and shouldn’t have an issue with getting invested into watching WandaVision. Let’s not forget this is the MCU. They made a blockbuster out of some space opera film that featured a talking tree and raccoon. I think after successes of other “far out” Marvel properties, it allows them to make riskier content more mainstream for their fan base. |

I really enjoyed the first 2 shows. I thought it was hilarious. Late 50s/early 60s humor. Hoping a Bewitched Uncle Arthur like character appears in the future shows.

Anecdotally ... the average viewer doesn't read comic books from my experience, I'd argue that the casual viewer doesn't really know the difference between DC and Marvel outside their respective pictures (if that), they're not watching the TV shows religiously.
My sister is a casual comicbook movie and comicbook fan, she watches some shows (she really enjoys the'90s animated shows) and reads some of the books I give her. She wasn't invested in WandaVision, I don't think she'll watch all of the D+ shows either, but she's looking forward to She Hulk and Miss Marvel if they're fun. I'm not slamming the show, I enjoyed the first episode and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. |

I'm interested to see how it plays out, too. Right now it has a Life on Mars vibe to it for me so I definitely want to see what's really happening.
