I don't think they lack dynamics at all.....providing you have a dynamic source to begin with. The speakers aren't going to inflate pre-existing dynamics or create them if they aren't in the source. As we've mentioned before, they have a fairly neutral sound that won't color the sound.

So give them a poor source and you'll get a poor (what some might call boring) sound, but give them a high quality source and you'll get a wonderful sound out of them.
Justin,

some speakers have artificial bumps in the mid-bass so that they sound like they have more thump, some have different crossover points so it add more bass to the bottom drivers. Some sound more forward and aggressive on the top end. this all adds to the dynamics of the speakers.

Source can play a part of the dynamic range, some will offer a more aggressive sound, some a more fat sound, but some will not offer any sound..... Look up the review for the Anthem Integrated 225, the reviewer talks about this, that the anthem is just flat, well you put an anthem with a flat neutral sound with a speaker like the Dynaudio Contour 3.4s that are neutral and laidback, and linear as all heck, then it could sound boring... it doesn't mean it doesnt have some of the best detail and transients and that there isn't any bass, but it will not have the deep kick some people will want. It wont have the deep impact that some people love. Will it sound great? Yea it will, but it may sound so balanced that some people will find it boring.

That may not be you. I do like that linear balanced sound.... so as rhett and I were discussing one day... he even said, IDK man, that may be boring if its too flat.

I will gaurantee you that sound will not behoov a bloated price. The past reviews of the older veritas speakers put them up there with Revel Performa's. I think the veritas speakers, while they look similar to the RCs I will bet the performance is a whole new level.

Just because John T is no longer there as a designer, doesn't mean they hired any old jim bob to replace him. The RC and CF series were wonderfully design, I would expect nothing less from the new flagship speaker.

[QUOTE=callas01;3675638] Energy has always been APIs flagship company, and Mirage was developed years later, this gave those companies better exposure, and are now seen in BB and other Klipsch dealers because those dealers are incentivized to have more KG (klispch group) products on their showroom floors. Granted, there are some dealers that were Energy dealers and now have abandoned Energy because they don't like the KG ownership(I have 2 of these in my area).
Yep, and who can blame them? I have always considered Energy and API to be more higher end for those who can't afford high end. Even the Energy C-series, their mid end product ditched by Klipsch, bested Polk and Klipsch mid end. Now that the RC series are found in BB showrooms, they are relegated to mass market audio.

Awesome suround for the price possibility for dipole or bipole use, and you can sure use 80hz x-over and will work great with your CB-20.

Now I dunno if you have enough space to run them but yes they a worth it.

space should not be an issue, i would put them at the back behind the couch on the ledge where i have my surround speakers set up at and take my surrounds and put one on the right hand side of the fire place and the other on posted up on the wall to the left. if you look at the set up, you will notice that the couch sorta sits in a nook, so, it would be tucked up outta sight.

hmmmmmmmmmm, just gotta convince the wife now, lol

Yeah but you surround have to be slightly behind you and the back surrounds behind you directly not sure how this gonna work out for ya as it seem that you have limited space for 7.1, you can always use them later on.

Is your couch against the wall and that ledge directly behind you?

lol seriously can't go wrong with them mount them up right as seen in the picture, they will create an effect over you and towards you.

what is the ideal positions for side surrounds and back surrounds?? I try to place my back surround at least a foot or so behind the couch, is this too close or should the rear surround be farther back. My couch is about 16ft in a straight line from my TV and the rear surrounds are about a foot behind them, but often rear surrounds tend to drown out the fronts then i turn them down a notch. Now for the side surrounds, If my couch is at 16ft from the TV them my side surrounds are at about 14ft for the left and about 12ft for the right (thats as close to my seating i could get). I do have the option to move my couch forward at least 5ft as well. Here's a quick diagram of exactly where my speakers are in my room(Center is 16ft from couch).

(front Left) (center) (Front right)

(RT side surround)
(Left side surround)

(Couch)
(Left rear surround) (Rt rear surround)

Well this was taken from the FS blog where Justin had found the article on the Veritas 6.3.

Look again it is exactly like the picture in the article let it suggest, as for the current RC, they cut really square not even a bit rounded like this picture shows and the tweeter is not integrated to the midrange driver as shown in the picture but I agree with you this looks more like an evolution of the RC than a new Veritas line but we'll see.

If you click on the picture of Mark O in the right end side it will bring ya to the pics.

but the article says that there are no fasteners on face of the speaker, here you see a bunch of socket head cap screws.... I don't know if they decided to do things that completely different from one model to the next, but to me that wouldn't make sense.

upon looking at the 6.3 there are socket heads there too...so I am thinking that they mean there is no fasteners showing for the magnetic grills. I guess the writers idea of a fastener free speaker face and mine differ.... look at the Monitor Audio BX2, it has a 360 view of it, you will see the single fastener on the back of the cabinet.... that is what I was expecting.

Perhaps the article was referring to the fasteners for the grill? There are no grill fasteners on this new speaker like the RC line, which have little black nobs for the speaker grills to snap into (which are also magnetic). Perhaps this one is also magnetic but minus the nobs, so the magnet part is underneath the finish for a slicker look.

If you look at the picture it definitely is not an RC-50 as the RC-50 as will all the RC lines don't integrate a mid or bass driver with the tweeter... the older Veritas line does just like this new picture, even though It does look very similar to the RC's.

Also the protection of the tweeter is slightly different. My RC-10's have three bars agross to the tweeter and all of the RC's are the same. This new picture has a cross pattern protecting the tweeter. Of course that probably has zero to do with the sound and might even just be an updated version of the same tweeter...

no I defintely agree it isn't the same old RCs.... I think as we talked about before, it may be the same aluminum dome, but I am sure there are much better upgraded components in there to make it a much, much better speaker.

I think you were getting at the true point of my post (which didn't come across as clearly as I wanted). Some people certainly enjoy a more forward and aggressive sound or one with more mid-bass. While it may not sound "boring" to my ears, I don't find it nearly as enjoyable as linear, balanced sound.

I know a linear speaker isn't for everyone and I can understand how one might find it boring, but I didn't want anyone getting the wrong idea and thinking Energy put out a bad product. They're revealing speakers (though obviously not the most revealing out there) and won't mask a bad recording.

As I've listened to more and more speakers, I've found I would rather hear the recording itself without the speaker coloring the sound and emphasizing certain frequencies more so than others.

That's a great looking finish. I'm sure the picture doesn't do it justice either.

Even though this has been addressed multiple times already, that isn't a shot of the current RC-50 (or 30). It could be a leaked shot of the new RC series, but there hasn't been a whole lot of buzz about a new RC series so I would doubt photos are leaking out already.

My guess is it's a close-up of one of the new Veritas. Time will tell though.
