That is so sad. Missed opportunity. Last 3D Movie I watched was The Meg which is a while back. I should watch more 3D.

Thanks, but the Sony 4KTV has a nice bright screen and a dark room is not needed. Unlike a Projector with screen where a dark room is needed. So my HT might just be a Media Room, and that's fine. My friends were very happy with the presentation of the Movie!

My Indy 4K disc set arrived this morning. Watched Raiders of the Lost Ark and it looked and sounded fantastic!

Paramount quickly had a french listing taken down involving a StarTrek 1-4 UHD BD set for Sept yesterday per digital bits, no they don't want to comment. But yes the first plus the trilogy theater versions would likely sell well.

Does anyone here plan to procure one of the new Reavon UHD Blu-ray disc players (here) when available? If this unit (X100) comes close to the Oppo in performance then I will add one to my rack.

Why buy Reavon if you’re really into UHD 4K disc performance? Panasonic UB9000 is readily available AND cheaper. The Panasonic UB9000 has better picture quality than Oppo anyway.

Oppo:

+ Serves my media player needs, has informative front display, V-stretch, 19" rack mount option, make adjustments as disc is playing

– Some features locked out when playing DV disc

Well, none of them are AV performance quality. They are merely convenience qualities (albeit very valid ones)

Still hawking those UB9000, soon to get a updated replacement. Everyone of the Oppo players I have is without issues.

My Panasonic UB420 UHD/Blu Ray/DVD/CD player is normally reliable but had a few glitches lately.

I just cleaned it and made sure it has the latest FW... if malfunctions again I guess I'm in the market for something new.

Oppo and Pioneers, absolute tanks in my opinion.

Perhaps you should question the A portion of your statement? Not like UB9000 meant much to computer Audiophile's, or many of the Audio centric magazines fans. The older UDP-205 sold for $1299, and UB9000 sells for $999. But wait there is more what about that Technics SL-G700?

Technics new SL-G700 Network/Super Audio CD Player. The SL-G700 is a multi-digital player that covers most of the digital audio media available today, from traditional CD/SACD to the latest high-res and many streaming services, and plays them all back in the highest possible quality.

Only $2997.00 more to add what's missing.

I am just going to poke holes with the Panasonic/Technics product line because even the $599 UDP-203 was way cheaper then your not built as well $999 Panasonic. It is what it is.

I buy my UHD player to play…. Wait for it… UHD!!! I have my Pioneer SACD player from way back. I only care for my UHD player to give me the best possible quality to play… wait for it… UHD discs.

And it’s not “updated” replacement. Panasonic can’t get AKM chip anymore die to the fire several months back, so they change the AKM DAC chip to Sabre. Everything else remains the same.

Thats fine if your system is not ideal for audio playback.

But a versatile home theater can make for some amazing entertainment besides UHD.

Good move. Likely due to part shortages, alternate vendor. ESS is a good company. I have a Class A headphone amp using older ES9018, Both the DAC I use and the 205 are using ESS ES9038PRO SABRE DAC's.

I didn’t know that Samsung own AKM. I always thought it’s Japanese own (Asahi Kasei).

While maybe not "ideal" I've been loving the lossless and ATMOS music recently upgraded from Apple Music.

I was already paying for Apple Music for my kids but now I use it and I'm loving it.

I can't say how the ATMOS music compares to high res multichannel music because I don't have any content in both but the ATMOS music I've heard so far sounds amazing.

Your correct, I will correct my post. I assumed because Samsung advertised a lot of products mentioning AKM.

FWIW, Kris Deering posted awhile back he was supposed to get one of the Reavon players for review. Not making a move till his review is posted and/or published.
