I really can't understand the whole mithology around the Halloween franchise and the Michael Myers "appeal". I don't get how is it so popular. It's all overrated to me.

First movie is decent though despite taking "liberties" from a much better movie called Black Christmas.

It's a bit too bad that his subversive films only had a right-wing bent twice to my knowledge, Gangs of New York & (debatable) Casino, as those have aged better and are more fun, IMHO, because they're so rare overall; something like Last Temptation of Christ is jejune.

Now I might be willing to up my number of films, since his Hugo probably counts just by virtue of being 3D.

Hugo is his best film, even without the 3D

Most movies are awful from every generation.

Star Wars is a bad movie that spawned a legion of bad movies and TV shows. What made the original so compelling was the masterful use of special effects. The acting, however, was terrible and the plot was vanilla. All but a couple of subsequent movies were complete crap.

Highlander is a great concept that has never been done properly on film. The original has some good parts and great ideas but it's aged horribly. And needs a big budget remake to realize the concept properly.

Agreed, all the Halloween seems pretty dull, rubbish and overrated.

The only one that I thought that had any real merit was Halloween III: Season of the Witch, which is completely different movie!

I share this sentiment as well. Highlander is a movie I want to love because it's a great idea, it just didn't work for me.

Highlander partially owes its success to being pretty much a 90 minute music video during the golden age of MTV. Also see: Rocky IV.

Highlander the TV show is better than any of the movies. In fact the movies with Christopher sucked. The movies with Adrian had his bum and his accent to make me laugh. Either way at least Adrian had his show.

Cavill might have a huge flop on his hands if they do right. IF they do it wrong it might succeed. Make sense? Course not!

Lastly I think Friday the 13th is the worst horror franchise ever, right up there with the Elm franchise. Lackluster direction - and Robert Englund is a terrible F tier actor. Big opinions!

I agree, the show was better.

The ending to the first Highlander movie was a real buzzkill. Though not quite as bad as Logan, it had that same sort of downer energy.

Although, at least Logan left open the possibility of Logan returning to form. Perhaps if Hugh Jackman needs some scratch after his divorce, and Hollywood lowers the absurd fitness demands they put on him, he'd be game.

I can definitely agree with this. The first movie was the only halfway watchable one and it was still pretty bad.

The disco theme of Friday 13th Part III is not "classic". It's alright. But it goes nowhere. It's just surprisingly not as embarrassing as a horror-disco track reasonably should be.
