The DE disc of Escape from New York has so much DNR that it ruins the presentation IMHO. I keep wondering what it would have looked like without it. I am betting it would have resembled the MGM disc.

Glad it's not just my eyes, there has been a recent drop in the price of the Shout release so it's certainly more appealing than it was.
