I don't know whats going on but I doubt the Athletic boosters would front 2 million for another no namer or quiet guy who might just win or whatever. This program needs to be put on the map for espn, and band wagoners to care.

I know the guy from the Baltimore Sun said on CFB:L today that it was all but a done deal due to Plank, but that our AD hadn't even met Leach until today so I'm sure that they just want to make sure everything's in-order I think boosters have a ton of pull but not enough where the AD doesn't even need to meet the coach and feel him out

I just want the light on us really, I hate we get like 5 minutes of ESPNs time unless theres a problem, awesome play, or whatever, and I really think Leach would change that.

I'm finding the Maryland coaching search interesting. They've hired a search firm and that would seem like a huge waste of money if they've decided on Leach. There's no reason to delay the hiring of Leach. Signing day is a month and a half away so they need to get a coach in there now to try and convince recruits to stay and find new recruits. I don't know if they are trying to make it seem like they have other options so Leach doesn't have a ton of leverage but this doesn't make sense if Leach was a slam dunk like it seemed when they fired Fridge.

Ohio State has suspended QB Terrell Pryor, RB Dan Herron, OL Mike Adams, WR DeVier Posey, and DL Solomon Thomas for the first five games of next season for rules violation. They will be eligible for the Sugar Bowl. The players reportedly sold team memorabilia like conference championship rings. These are some of Ohio State's most prominent players so the suspensions could end up being worthless if the players go pro. Pryor had said he wanted to return to win the Heisman but if he's going to miss nearly half the season he could change his mind and leave early.

Hopefully Minnesota will never face sanctions like this, glad I'm not an OSU fan.

Here are Ohio St.'s first 5 games of 2011. They could easily drop 2 or 3 of those without those guys.

Sat. Sept. 3 AKRON
Sat. Sept. 10 TOLEDO
Sat. Sept. 17 at Miami, Fla.
Sat. Sept. 24 COLORADO
Sat. Oct. 1 MICHIGAN STATE

The OSU players got in trouble for selling Big 10 championship memorabilia. I don't think Minnesota needs to worry about that.

There's really no way a player can get punished if they end up jumping into the draft since the seasom (minue Bowl Game) is already over. However things like this tend to cause guys to fall in the draft since team management in the NFL tend to consider it a character problem. Just look at Dez Bryant from last draft. He did nothing wrong IMO and still fell in the draft because of drummed up "character issues."

What I find funny is how fast the NCAA handed down judgment here compared to what, like 5 years before doing anything to USC in the Reggie Bush case?

I guess I should have got into a lot of trouble in college...maybe I would have gotten less punishment? lol

DEZ_88 Dez Bryant
I lied and then came back and told the truth....I didn't take no money, was not communicating with no agents at all.. NCAA is crazy

Not all of them. They are slowly being announced by each school. Here is a good blog that keeps track of schedules for NCAA Football.

It didn't help he only played 3 games and was suspended for the rest of the season either. I see a lot of the OSU player leaving for the Draft. Coming back next year and missing 5 games will only hurt their Draft positions.

Not to mention if it takes them 2 or 3 games to get going from that time off.

Still think if they jump ship they should lose those scholarships for a year or two.

What do you mean "if they jump ship"? You mean transfer? Either way they have to serve a 5 game suspension whether it's at Ohio St. or another school. If they go anywhere it's probably the NFL draft.

Pryor especially would seem to gain by going to the draft at this point. Consensus seems to be he'd go about the 2nd round. I think a couple others of the five OSU players would also benefit by declaring rather than coming back in 2011 for half a season.

Bryant has now missed almost all of his junior year, all of a camp, half of his rookie season. Can't wait to see how good he'll be once he gets his legs back under him.
