On the 4K or the Blu-ray? I didn't pay it that much attention.

I haven't noticed this. Can it even be seen unless you watch the movie frame by frame? I wonder if Warners even knows it's there and if they'd even consider fixing it.

Yes, it's obvious when the blue titles briefly snap to orange against a black space background.

Here's what it looks like and it's baked into the master. I took these screen grabs off of my redeemed digital copy on YouTube. It's exactly what's on the disc, so please don't get on me for not using the disc. Instead, marvel at my ability to perfectly pause this on the bad frame.

Here's the orange frame that's incorrect.

Screen Shot 2022-11-09 at 11.44.47 AM.jpg

Here's the next moment where it goes back to the proper blue.

I hope they redo the whole transfer, that one frame is the least of the problems on the 4k disc.

I stated a few pages back what I saw at the Royal Albert Hall in the summer. A DCP that had all the correct colour like the blu ray but the cyan had been properly changed back to blue. If they get it to look colour wise like that dcp it will look great but with the grain intact and original audio of course.

This. The first film’s 4K needs a fixed transfer badly.

Makes me wonder, especially when they obviously have a better scan, if they do this on purpose to re-release it at a later date to get people to double dip.

I've always preferred the 'Remastered' "Superman the Movie" Blu-ray to the 4k. The UHD seems very pale in it's color saturation. The Blu-ray looks great on my 150" screen and no glitch on Christopher's Credit in the opening titles. Also the same goes for "Forrest Gump". The Blu-ray (IMO) looks much better than the UHD. Ok, so does "Grease" . . I'll stop now! LoL

There’s a reason for that. There’s a capedwonder podcast on the topic. I can’t recall the full context, but it was something to the effect of “someone who either worked on the original film or was better at their job oversaw the BD transfer and was not consulted for the 4K”. If I can figure out what episode it was, I’ll post a link.

I saw it this weekend in Los Angeles. The master used was the old HD master, but the version created for streaming, so it had a different WB logo at the start.

No special edition 4K of STM? Damn. I'm always moaning about wanting theatrical this and OG that, but I've a soft spot for the SE of the first movie and would dearly love to have that on 4K because that theatrical 4K is a bit shit.

Can someone please help clarify about S2 - Donner Cut - is says it will be included on 4k BUT then it says the "longer version" is NOT being remastered? Are their 2 different Donner cuts or just 1 ?

Yeah, man! I was totally bummed when the Extended Cut didn't get the 4k treatment and even more disappointed when I read about the fact there was better quality source material available to scan for an improved 4k restoration.

And the wording is kind of weird on the 2023 release of the Donner Cut.

There are. One is streaming only and one is disc only. The streaming is longer.

"It is believed that the issues with the first movie's 2018 4K release are being dealt with." Wait, WHAT? WB are having a second go? I don't wanna get too excited, but what if WB are using their 100th anniversary as an opportunity to have another Sony-style crack at some of their catalogue UHDs?

Good thing I still haven't picked up the UHD, lol...

Not necessarily. They're talking about correcting issues for the theatrical version. If you're interested in the special edition, you'll still need that first disc, unless they seamless branch it. Is that possible?

That's what I'm saying, bruh! It's very un-WB, but I'm here for it. Now if they could re-release the Burton/Schumacher Batflicks with the OG audio, I'd be eternally grateful.

Admittedly I've never seen the special edition of Superman (nor the mega-long TV version), so I'm not particularly fussed about its exclusion.
