It does seem to be more a UK imports into EU rather than EU to UK issue, but that's because some countries like France deliberately want to be awkward and try and stop as many imports from the UK to protect their local domestic businesses.
Just look at all the farmer protests. Big in France for weeks and made the BBC News in Italy today and places like Poland are next. The EU farmers wanting to stop imports from outside the EU which obviously now includes the UK. Canadian farmers are also why the proposed UK & Canada free trade deal fell through as they wanted to block some UK food imports like cheese. Farmers are a massive barrier to free trade globally but seem to have a very loud political voice in most countries. |

I was wondering why part of my latest amazon order took so long, whereas recently they arrived lightning fast, often in mere days.
- ordered on 13 March 2024 - 14 March: package travels around Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom GB for "customs clearance at country of origin" - 15 March: customs clearance at Grâce-Hollogne, BE - 17 March: arrived at Amazon facility in Dormagen, North Rhine Westphalia DE - 18 March: arrived in Belgium at carrier facility - 19 March: local post office -> "Out for delivery" I don't mind, it's nothing urgent. But why the detour to Germany? Amazon was building a Belgian hub in Antwerp, IIRC, and was experimenting with white van deliveries in preparation for setting up their own delivery service. Then again, a previous package went Tilbury, United Kingdom -> Mouscron, BE -> LAUWIN-PLANQUE, Hauts-de-France FR -> carrier facility in Belgium -> my local post office I presume the volume of packages makes it easier to go those routes? |

Out of curiosity do Amazon no long deliver new releases on the day they are released. I preorder things now & again & have never received the item on release day. I don’t know if i’m just unlucky or they no longer do it.

It seems like a lucky dip. If you have Prime it's more often than not better to order it on release day with same or next-day delivery. I've cancelled pre-orders that were still not expected for days and re-ordered the same thing with same-day delivery before now. Their system seems broken.

Just remembered I'd pre-ordered the True Lies 4K from Amazon months ago and it released yesterday. Checked my order and it still had no movement and "expected Saturday". Cancelled and reordered with same day delivery by 5pm. How can they be so bad at this?!?

Mini rant:
I feel like I need a degree in accounting to understand what Amazon is actually charging my credit card for whenever I have more than one order open. They charge at random times, splitting the order into random pieces, sometimes seems to coincide with shipping somewhat but I'm not sure... Not to mention that the sums keep changing... might be due to currency conversion, but sometimes it also randomly increases by 1 euro or something... not enough to make me go to customer support and ask what that is. |

Oh cool, that helps a bit, I didn't know about that page. It's still is a mystery when do they charge for each item. They turned my 5 item order into 5 shipments, 3 charged separately and shipped, now I got a 4th charge but the two remaining items are set to arrive in May so seems a bit early to charge.
[edit] aha, got a notification now that one item is shipping early, but this was many hours after the CC charge. I guess they have a lot of notifications to send out... Last edited by T4ffer; 04-09-2024 at 12:46 PM. Reason: got new info |

I saw the 101 release of Memento is on sale for £9. Turns out this is yet another one of those which Amazon won't sell to Europeans: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Memento-Blu-ray/dp/B0CK4LQ43Y
I could order it through Rarewaves, but there it is €23... |

It should only be £15 as per HMV and 101 Films own store. Amazon discounting from this. |

2 orders from Amazon have supposed to have been delivered to my Amazon Counter this week, and both have gone missing. 3 LE's too, Cat and the Canary, and The Inspector Wears Skirts 3/4.
Not sure what is going on, but very frustrating to me. Especially given the LE nature, I don't want the slips/booklets to sell out. I managed to get a replacement for TIWS 3/4 supposed to be delivered on Monday, but no confidence this being delivered either. ![]() The amazon credit I had is in no way worth the extra hassle. Should have gone to HMV direct. |

My Amazon Spain order of The Abyss has just dispatched, with Royal Mail which is quite unusual for a European Amazon order.

Ugh, encountered yet another BD Amazon UK won't sell me because I'm in Europe: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Snowtown-Blu-ray/dp/B0CHM8SY99
I could get it from Rarewaves, but there it isn't discounted. |

I'm also running across a lot more movies they refuse to ship to Finland as of late. Stuff like the limited edition of The Crow 4K or either version of Eureka's The Valiant Ones.
Not entirely sure what's up as I haven't had these kinds of issues in the past. I hope this doesn't get any worse as not every label allows you to buy from their site directly like Eureka does. |

Aren't those pre-orders? With those it is happening a lot, but on release date those often become available.

For these kinds of limited releases it's kind of a big bummer, I wonder what the reasoning behind this is. |
