I didn't even bother looking at your thread to be honest, now that I have, I'm glad I didn't earlier. Too many sky is falling rumors. You need to join other forums and not worry so much about one particular aspect of being entertained is going to be ruined from many directions. Just have a nice ale, and watch one of your favorites, stop stressing about stuff that is more concept then actually used by the masses.

This YouTube will take your mind off that. Darn hungry critters!

Film is my number one passion though. The most important to me.

Here is an article on Object-Based Broadcasting from the SMPTE website dated August 2019:

https://www.smpte.org/blog/object-ba...eality-finally

The article talks about TV shows - and says nothing about Hollywood movies.

So my advice is to rest easy about any threat to your passion of movies. As far as TV shows? Who cares?

I detest movies. They are the least important to me. I wouldn't spend a plug nickel for one, yet alone for 9297 of them.

The question has already been asked. Someone brought it up in a Q&A. The presenter said it could be applied to recorded or streamed content, including film.

It’s not interactive like a ‘choose your own adventure’ it’s a lean back experience that changes depending on the individuals profile.

The most worrying aspect is the ability to curate a short catch up of tv shows. Heck, people don’t need encouragement to speed through stuff.

And I replied to you in jest which was all the context needed. You rub our noses in your "passion" often.

I made my reply because you seem to imply that your passion for movies exceeds that of ours simply because we do not share your fear of every new idea or option that comes along.

That’s not what I was trying to imply.

Turn based narrative rich video games are very much a "lean back" experience. They are what this old fart mostly plays. I have the reaction time of a sedated zombie.

Many tv shows that I watch offer a recap at the start of each episode already. There's nothing new about people watching recaps.

What other people watch, and how they choose to watch it, is of no worry at all. Why? Because it does not in any way affect MY choices. What other people choose is really none of my business and people have been choosing differently than me for decades. I suspect that they will keep doing so, too.

Let's see . . .

An asteriod could hit Earth and wipe out all life.

The ice caps could melt due to climate change adding 260 feet to sea levels.

The COVID Delta Variant could infect even more people than CV-19 did even with all the vaccinations plunging the world back into lockdown.

Broadcasters here in the US will concentrate on getting their new ATSC 3.0 up and running which will take years. They won't want a gimmick to get in the way of that.

The BBC will try anything because what they have already tried isn't working enough to keep their financial head above water.

PICK ONE!

3D for TV
3D for TV was/is a great idea; it was just poorly implemented. Two different kinds of glasses (passive or active shutter) which only worked with the corresponding display type created lots of confusion. Uncomfortable to wear for long periods also.

Headaches affecting up to 25% of those who watched 3D did not help, either. I really enjoy my 3D blu-rays, but three hours worth of viewing is my limit before I start to get a headache; some people that I know get headaches much sooner.

The following has had my attention for several days now, been reading all the lamp vs laser projector post at AVS.

BREAKING NEWS: JVC presents three new 4K home cinema projectors with laser light technology in September
Link here, will need translating to English. If true, hopefully other manufactures will have new models.

Still looking into a new projector, will not consider a new model that does not do 3D.

I added a handful of Criterion blu-rays today:

I had to at least take a little advantage of the Criterion sale.

3D from a 4K Sony projector like yours or mine just crazy good.

I tend to get a new Projector on average every 3 years but tonight I can't think of anything but how lucky I am to have exactly what I want.
