Be aware that NONE of the cheap australian reissues of the same discs will, though, besides the two Frankensteins which are Region Free. There's this set here which is pretty much just straight copies of the Studiocanal discs which is only about 50 bucks total for all of them, while the individual studiocanal ones are all over 20 bucks each on Amazon.co.uk. If you have a region free player and your setup can handle 1080i/50hz stuff (Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell and most of the extras, including Quatermass 2/Creeping Unknown, are 1080i/50hz) then I highly recommend this set.

If not, and you don't mind spending a lot of money, then yeah, definitely pick up the studiocanal ones. The Reptile, Plague of the Zombies, The Devil Rides Out, and Quatermass and the Pit are by far my favorites of the batch, but I liked all of them besides The Witches, which was at least a semi-interesting failure. The Mummy's Shroud probably isn't worth full price individually either, but it's not BAD, just sorta dull - definitely way better than Curse of the Mummy's Tomb.

I'd say reactions to the particular lineup you listed have been pretty mixed. Though I have no interest in them myself, Ghoulies, Ghoulies II, and the Sleepaway Camp sequels have generated some excitement. For my own part, this is the least appealing Scream Factory lineup so far, and I truly wish Scream Factory would be able to license titles from other companies besides MGM. Kino has also been making forays into the MGM catalogue, with Sugar Hill, Savage Weekend, and possibly Raw Meat coming out (titles I would be surprised if SF didn't make a bid for), but what about the retro titles that Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Sony are sitting on?

Agreed, if they keep this up they'll have to re-name themselves "MGM Rejects Factory" !

Don't get me wrong, I love lowbudget retro horror, and I'm looking forward to the Kino titles (Savage Weekend, Sugar Hill, and Raw Meat if they have it). I am extremely excited about Madman and Last House on Dead End Street (VS), Sweet Sixteen (CR), God Told Me To (BU), the Italian & Slasher Classics sublines from 88 Films, and the Argento titles and Creature from Black Lake (Synapse). But much of Scream Factory's lineup is either periphal to the brand they have established or of minor note. If they have milked the MGM catalogue dry and have no other sub-license deals, where do they go?

Hopefully they look into my suggestion and try and go back and make some of their 4 pack movies into proper blurays. Titles like Cellar Dwellar, The Outing, Barbarians, Scorchy, Eliminators, Arena, America 3000.

They released all of these titles in full frame on their dvd sets. If that have run out of titles to release, I'd be more than happy to repurchase any of those movies if they are properly made onto a bluray with a better cleaner print. The current masters for some of those are somewhat faded and blurry.

I'd also kill for a 2:35 3D Bluray for Treasure of the Four Crowns!!! While the movie isn't amazing it needs 3D and widescreen. Seeing it in full frame 2D ruins all of the effects as it is an in your face type of 3D.

Heck I'd even donate if they wanted to do an Indiegogo or something to get money for the 3D.

Well just because you have no personal interest in them doesnt mean they are going to stop releasing what they think will sell or change their entire strategy...And there are plenty of titles that many of us colletors DO want. Scream Factory had a chance to release as many MGM titles as they wanted when they were the only studio in town sub-licensing. Some were passed on because they believed that they wouldn't sell ..others were passed on because of the budget to create HD masters for. Many titles that are being picked up by Kino are getting HD masters for the first time, while others were passed on by SF.
Paramount, Warner arent sub-licensing to Scream. Universal did but it seems that nothing new is in place yet. Sony has some kind of rule about a studio not creating extras for their titles unless they exist on one of their previous DVD releases...but maybe that changed with the new Fright Night blu ray from Twilight Time(or they offered extra $$$$ to have them made and Sony said yes)
This is the way it is right now. None of us are at those behind the scenes meetings and there is so much that probably goes into a deal that criticizing what titles are released is not going to change things. All we are basically are fans commenting.
By the time 2015 is over, the only real differences between Scream Factory and Kino will be slipcovers
And Kino also isnt just horror and scifi.

Default Sleepaway Camp Sequels

The Sleepaway Camp sequels are my favorite Scream announcements so far this year. Part 2 is my favorite of the entire series. It will be fun to sit down with Part 2 again all these years later.

I still remember the impression it had on me when I first saw it in the summer of 1988. At that time, I'd only heard about Sleepaway Camp from friends. Finding the original to rent on VHS in the late 1980's was near impossible in my area. I searched for years to track down Sleepaway Camp, asking friends what stores they rented it from, only to find out that those same stores that had copies in 84-85, had lost or purged or even had their only copy stolen from them. One store had the box on display, so I grabbed it off the shelf to rent, only to find out that no store employee could track down the actual tape. It seemed to have simply vanished.

So when I found out SC 2 was out on VHS, I was over the moon with excitement. I could barely contain myself as I put the sequel into my VCR and hit Play. Although, I hadn't been able to view the original at this point in time, I was excited to finally see a sequel to that film I had only heard about in whispered voices, in conversations had on slow days in study hall and lunch breaks.

Obviously that is not what I said. Yes, the most recent line-up is the one with the fewest titles of interest to me so far. Nowhere did I say that Scream, or anyone else, should not be releasing these titles - however, the line-up is somewhat removed from the brand that Scream created for themselves. All I am saying is that reactions were mixed with this particular line-up (to a greater degree than they have been in the past). Yes, some members here have expressed their excitement - as I stated - and some have voiced their disappointment. I think most consumers can appreciate that most of the major bases are covered - the list of big retro titles like The Fog, Halloween II, and The Howling isn't endless. Which is why I would like to see SF get more sub-licensing deals - even if Warner and Paramount are out of the question.

We are all just fans commenting, and that's what a forum such as this is for. For my own part, I support the releases that I want in my collection. I don't go out and buy a dud just because I appreciate the company releasing it - I simply don't have the shelf space for that.

I know that - I just happen to be most interested in the genre titles, so those are the ones that get my money.

*Response to comment in bold* Yes, I know that wasn't what you said, but your post made it sound that way(sort of), but I knew it wasnt what you meant at all. I was just posting that they wouldn't change their ways because of it. Generally speaking they wont change their business model for one person They cant re-release the A list of titles like the Fog again. Anyway they are just doing the best that they can so they can stay in business. It is not easy when other studios are now in the mix with MGM and SF is unable to license highly requested titles such as Phantasm, Rawhead Rex, Dawn of the Dead, Blood Beach, Hell Night, etc..We can hope that can change. Right now none of the studios are able to get them, but maybe one magical day we could get a surprise ..At the moment all the studios are deep into the belly of the MGM beast, some titles will be meat, others , bone marrow

I also prefer horror and scifi , so they also get my money there as well. I dont buy DUDs either.. I can understand that
And hopefully someone has Bubba Ho Tep !!

Scream Factory is obviously an expression of love for retro genre movies - that much is evident from their very strong first two years. I realise that their business decisions aren't made in this forum.

My comment was merely a reflection of the disappointment I share with many collectors as a response to the "great line-up" comment. I do not deny that a few of the titles have been met with a fair bit of enthusiasm, and I hope that can generate enough sales to keep the company afloat until they can get back to the "good stuff". The brand of movies they initially built their sub-label on.

Until then, I am glad that other companies are still able to release titles I want. As much as I enjoy my Scream Factory collection, I simply don't have the money or shelf space for something like Supernova, Vampire's Kiss, or The Rage: Carrie 2.

Anyway, thank you for clarifying on the status of Warner and Paramount.

No problem - as with most titles, some are disappointed, others love them. Im more interested in the releases of Frogs and Empire of the Ants than Supernova or the Carrie release but thats just me.
Kino is knocking it out of the park lately

Indeed they are - I love that they're taking a chance with something like Savage Weekend. It's not a personal favourite, but I'm nevertheless looking forward to re-evaluating it on Blu. I wonder if Scream Factory rejected it?

I wanted to like Frogs. I love Squirm, Kingdom of the Spiders, and Day of the Animals, but Frogs doesn't quite have the momentum of those movies. But seeing as it's paired with Food of the Gods, which I haven't seen, it may still find its way into my collection.

Food of The Gods is a fun movie if you just sit back and don't expect Citizen Kane - I would put it about on par with Empire Of The Ants or Day of The Animals.

They could try to go after the post-Corman New World titles that Image isn't doing anything with. Some nice gems in there, like House, The Stuff, Hellraiser, even non-horror stuff like The Annihilators (1986), 3:15, The Moment of Truth, and Breaking All the Rules (1985). I had high hopes that Arrow would continue the line after their initial couple of titles but they seem to be going after the arthouse crowd these days. They should also look into going after more independently-released titles but those could prove tougher to license since many of the production outfits behind them are long-gone.

I would love to see The Outing in proper widescreen, but I don't think Shout and/or MGM have anything better than what we got on the DVD.

While we're on the subject of upgrades, let me also suggest Slumber Party Massacre 2/3.

They would have to go behind some backs and amount to sleazy business tactics to do that. The owner of the New World titles only works with one guy, who used to be at Anchor Bay and is now at Image.

The guy at Image isn't doing anything with them, so I hope SF does whatever it takes to get them.

That owner must not want to make money then. These titles may as well be with Lionsgate . Seriously, that's one neglected catalog right there, with several high-profile titles. The former Anchor Bay guy must have some idea of the goldmine he's sitting on, unless he's from the post-Starz era.
