The Guest made Stevens seem like a better fit for a Bond villain(or henchman) than 007 himself. But physically, he absolutely could pull it off based on what he did in that movie. He may be too young though. He's only 33, so unless they're planning another reboot instead of a continuation of the Craig series, he wouldn't exactly be believable as the aging Bond we saw in Skyfall.

Luke Evans has always seemed to me like someone who could be Bond. He'd be in his late 30's when they made the next movie which is old enough to pull off a continuation of the Craig series while young enough to make 3 or 4 movies before he gets too long in the tooth. The question remains however will the producers cast an openly gay actor as Bond? My only criteria is that they can believably play a heterosexual character(which Evans absolutely can), but how will audiences in general react?

BTW, both actors will be facing off in the live action Beauty and the Beast in about 18 months. Odd coincidence.

Everyone threw a hissy fit for Craig just cuz he was blonde, Evans will definitely get some backlash. But if he's really the best man for the job, I'm sure he'll shut everyone up once they actually see the movie. TBH he's been my top choice for about a year or so now. (Aside from Idris Elba, but he'll be too old by the time Craig finishes.)

David Bautista may not be as good an actor as Dwayne Johnson but Bautista has only acted in one movie before.
They were low budget movies, but he was pretty good in Wrong Side of Town (starring Rob...Van...DAM!!!) and House of the Rising Sun.

From reading prior posts, looks like Prime>Imax.

Damn the only prime auditorium in my area only has an 8PM showing on Friday night so far. I usually like seeing a movie mid afternoon. Hopefully they update their times tomorrow so I can return my Imax ticket.

Just got back from it and...it is a big disappointment! I love Casino Royale and Skyfall and like Quantum but this is beneath all of them. The best part of the movie was Bautista. The movie is incredible dull, not even the action scenes can't pump your adrenaline, Cristophe Waltz's character wasn't menacing at all, and it was pretty predictable (I haven;t read the leaked script).

I will be seeing this Friday, I have 2 movie cash tickets for $7.00 off a ticket so if it is disappointing my wife and I won't be out that much but I hope this is a good one. I like Daniel Craig as Bond and have pretty much enjoyed his films but he is not my favorite. My favorites are Timothy Dalton, Sean Connery and then Craig. To me Dalton was the right man at the wrong time. By following Roger Moore, I don't think audiences were ready for a more serious Bond. Between that, MGM having financial problems and then the rights being tangled up for 6 years, Dalton does not get the respect he should in the role, pity he wasn't able to do at least one more.

Dang it! The trailers made it look so cool. I guess I could see some of the campiness starting to come through in Skyfall, but I didn't expect this one to suck.

Yeah, I know the feeling! A random guy on the internet said he didn't like the movie, so that means his opinion is the only correct one and the movie must suck.

65% on RT vs. 93% for Skyfall...

He's just confirming what the reviews are saying.

The only review that matters to me is my own. So we'll see come the time I see it.

And so we enter the phase of the thread in which people quibble about reviews.

I tend to disagree with reviews from time to time, but I still use them to set my expectations. I'm worried that it's sitting under Goldeneye, which was the best entry in Pierce Brosnan's stint.

No quibbling here. Different people like different things for different reasons. Who would've thought?

What's the threshold for a movie to be certified "fresh" on RT? Quantum of Solace failed to reach it and apparently Spectre won't either. I guess every other Craig movie is a dud.

From Tampa Bay Times:

Quote:
A promising start, although that impression lasts only as long as it takes to strike up Sam Smith's falsetto dirge Writing's on the Wall, appropriately played over the worst opening credits in 007 history.
[Show spoiler]Craig glowers at the camera, shirtless, muscular arms folded, while gloomy under-dressed women writhe around him, and octopi ripple like Rockettes.
The sequence is beyond bad, bordering on stale Austin Powers parody.
Ouch.

Really looking forward to your opinion on it, after you'll see it. Don't take my word for it.

Interesting:

Quote:
He’s replaced here by Interstellar’s Hoyte van Hoytema, and aside from the expansive daylight sequences, the movie feels dull, even muddied at times. (Between this and Interstellar, maybe it's time to admit film's not the definitive medium for shooting movies after all.)
