The 5 Ohio State players suspended for the first 5 games of next season will all return to school next year, according to coach Jim Tressel. Tressel said he wouldn't reinstate the players for the Sugar Bowl if they didn't agree to return to school. This is not a binding decision of course. They could change their minds or have lied to Tressel, but for now it appears that they'll return.

LOL It's pretty obvious they were going to claim they'll come back just to play. No way Pryor returns for what amounts to about 7 games in 2011. My guess is at least 3 of those 5 will be gone fairly soon after the Sugar Bowl is played.

Yes they did, they really need to rethink some of these celebration penalties. Sometimes they deserve the flag no questions asked. But there are times where it seems the NCAA wants the players to be emotionless robots. That's not football, football is full of heart and soul.

I still can't believe Nebraska lost to Washington, I thought that was the easiest bowl pick of the whole season. And how the hell did Washington win with Locker going 5/16 for 54 yards? I mean he did rush for 83 yards, but Washington beating Nebraska with their quarterback passing for 54 yards?

I was watching the Tennessee-North Carolina game after the K State game and after every touchdown there was taunting that was much worse than what the K State player did, including a player saluting the crowd, which was was the penalty was called for against K State. The thing is it was Big 10 refs in both games, so it's not like one crew's conference taught them to be more strict. People refer to the NFL as the no fun league a lot but it's nowhere as bad as college.

I'm pretty psyched for the this afternoon's Sun Bowl for obvious reasons. Two of the most storied programs in all the land going head to head. It doesn't get any better than a Miami/Notre Dame match. We start our two year series with them in two years, and by that time you have to think that Brian Kelly is going to have Notre Dame back to being a perennial 9+ win team. And we can only hope Al Golden is going to be able to do the same, he's saying all the right things and really getting the fans really excited for the future. Now he has to deliver. The Sun Bowl is a matter of pride for the 'Canes, and I think we'll win.

Texas CB Aaron Williams will forgo his senior season with the Longhorns to enter the 2011 NFL draft.
Williams had just four interceptions in his college career, but is regarded as a well-rounded corner with first-round potential. He is also experienced on special teams and at nickel back. A skilled tackler with ideal size at 6'1/195, Williams is expected to compete with Janoris Jenkins (Florida), Brandon Harris (Florida), and Brandon Burton (Utah) to be the third cornerback drafted behind Prince Amukamara (Nebraska) and Patrick Peterson (LSU). Didn't see this one coming. Weis may have been a poor head coach at Notre Dame but I think he'd be a very good pickup as O-Coordinator for UF.

Sources: Gators want Charlie Weis on staff

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis is being targeted by the University of Florida Gators to become the offensive coordinator under new coach Will Muschamp, two sources confirmed to ESPN.

Weis is expected to take the job, but no firm agreement is in place.

Muschamp contacted the Chiefs this week for permission to talk to Weis, with the full intention of hiring the Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Notre Dame head coach, sources said. A Florida source said Weis would continue to coach the Chiefs into the AFC playoffs. Another source reiterated that Weis is expected to accept the job.

One day after Ralph Friedgen coached his final game with Maryland, the school ramped up the search for its next head coach.

According to multiple reports, former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach met with Maryland on Thursday. Two sources told the Washington Post the meeting went well.

The school has not offered the position to anyone, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik said Tuesday that Maryland may have reached out to Tigers offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

"I have not talked to anybody personally, but there are possibilities of contact," Chizik told reporters.

SMU coach June Jones was a candidate, but the former Hawaii coach withdrew his name from consideration.

Friedgen was fired on Dec. 20, but allowed to coach in Maryland's bowl game.

During his 10 years at his alma mater, Friedgen went 75-50, including a 51-20 win over East Carolina in the Military Bowl Presented By Northrop Grumman on Wednesday. He was named Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year for a second time this year and earned his seventh postseason appearance with the Terps.

Athletic director Kevin Anderson said when he fired Friedgen he planned to fill the position by Jan. 4.

It's very clear this is a lost team. Al Golden needs to instill confidence in this group, they are immensely talented but look emotionless and confused half the time. That needs to change, and it will. The future is very bright for the Miami Hurricanes. I'll tell you one thing though, at this point Jacory Harris has to be one of the biggest busts of all time. As hyped as he was coming out of high school, he is a terrible college quarterback. He can't read defenses, does not show leadership, and he stares down the receiver every damn time.

Jacory Harris is perfect passing today. All 7 of his passes have been caught. Unfortunately 3 of those 7 were caught by Notre Dame players.

Notre Dame player, all 3 of them were caught by the same guy, who had only 4 interceptions on the year going into the game.

The one solace for me going into next year would be knowing that Harris would be a backup QB at best. He does not need to start anymore games for us. But yeah, you're right, this team is pretty directionless right now. We'll see what next year brings.

I'm glad Miami made a game of it in the second half, but the hole was just too big to climb out of. One thing is for sure, Stephen Morris is the future quarterback of this team. He's a good looking kid.

Run clock run... UCF is 8 minutes from their first ever bowl game victory... UCF has a slim 10-6 lead.

Thanks! What will be sad is if FSU wins tonight to make Miami the only one of four Florida colleges to lose their bowl game today. Oh well, I think Miami finally hired the right coach. They'll bounce back in the coming years.
