Nice.
I hope the 6 I ordered won't resemble a jigsaw puzzle by the time they arrive in Australia

I saw in their computer that more local stores have them in boxes for $99. Some stores had other floor models too. The DVD4 is also region-free too with the same code. Those are harder to find, but are $79 new in the box. The computer said there were 20+ at the stores in Schaumburg and Skokie if you are going that way. Hope this helps...

BTW CG, my 2 releases have not yet shipped from B&N yet. I threw on the Keaton shorts due to the 15% off coupon since the 10% does not work anymore. Their site says they are ready for shipping, but no confirmation yet, so you are not alone in the waiting game.
Doh, that's a great suggestion. I've been riding to the Evanston store a couple times a week since they started that $5 coupon and checking open box players never even crossed my mind.

Thanks.

Yes, because Mulvaney handles all sales. I highly doubt they have 1 guy handling all things on Criterion's site. He answers all Facebook posts too.

B&N can still do their sale. Have Criterion's site and B&N do it at the same time.

Sure, and you can too. All you have to do is go to Criterion's site and start looking at the titles from Bottle Rocket and Chungking Express up until now and go from there. It'll take you less than 10 minutes, I'm guessing, if you set their page to show 50 titles at a time.

Start here.

There are quite a few that I wish would've made it onto blu-ray at the time, but I have the DVDs for now so I'm all set.

Are you asking if The Criterion Collection has a set number of titles they're planning to release in their company's lifetime? I would guess that there isn't a set limit. I'm sure they're going to continue releasing titles on a physical format until economics proves it's not viable anymore, which will hopefully be a long time from now.

Criterion's Wikipedia entry has a list of all its releases and their respective formats all in one page, so might save on the clicks.

Everyone knows about the B&N sale, so it isn't like they get alot of suckers who will pay the $30 prices still on their site while the sale is going on (maybe they do). Shipping will be so simple ordering with Criterion.

Just because it's 50% off at Barnes and Noble doesn't mean that Barnes and Noble paid Criterion any less money.

There isn't a limit. If that was the case, I can bet they would look back on alot of what they released and facepalm themselves if they had a limit of 800 to present as to what they think are the best in World Cinema (which I stress, they haven't even started on alot of countries, yet are in double digits in certain directors).

It's a business, so no limit, they will put out what makes money and as long as they can.

Totally agree 100%. Would love to see Viridiana and Los Olvidados on Blu-ray.

I especially wonder if Criterion will ever get the rights to release Los Olvidados. It such a great film, it fits Criterion's criteria () perfectly. A great examination about the underdog society in my country, Mexico. I saw it for the first time a few months ago and then can't believed how much time it got me to sit around and see it. Own the Mexican DVD-release but I would cry in joy if Criterion decides to take its time and give it the look it deserves.

Hasn't 12 Angry Men been rumored for a criterion release for awhile now? If it is let me just say, I finally got around to watching it yesterday and was blown away. Usually when a movie is considered one of the greatest movies of all time I usually come away disappointed on the first viewing because it had been so hyped up, but after multiple viewings I can appreciate it. This did not happen with 12 Angry Men. Everything about was just spot-on. Every performance was great, especially Henry Fonda's. I was also suprised to find out that it was Sidney Lumet's debut because the movie felt like it had been done by someone with years of experience. The man was truly talented and will be missed.

Hunger love?! Wow. I haven't seen this in awhile.

When I first saw Hunger, I thought it was one of the more boring films I've seen in some time. Maybe because I was tired. I bought it at last year's July sale, re-watched it and thought it was amazing. I've watched my BD of it about ten times since then. I, too, think it's a masterpiece.

Quite a few of the 2008 movie released by Criterion are just terrific. Hunger, Gomorrah, and my personal favorite, Revanche.

I truly love Revanche. One of my most watched BD. To top it off, it looks stunning in high-def.

I saw it for the first time 2 months ago...for me it just seemed like a long Twilight Zone episode, mainly because I'd seen some of the actors in TZ episodes, the B&W, and it all being set in one room. It felt a bit dated, and the change in some of the characters wasn't very plausible. But I enjoyed it all the same

If you already have an HTPC I would strongly recommend to invest in AnyDVD HD from Slysoft!

I got tired of waiting for a Region Free player to hit the Swedish market and finally had a colleague (who is way more into HTPC than I am) help me list the items I would need.
As an added bonus the LG drive I got was also capable of playing HD-DVD's so when retailers were clearing out their HD-DVD stock I got a whole bunch of movies for ~$2.50 apiece (most of them has since then been replaced by Blu-Ray's).
