True. But the 80s was still the best decade.

I started to waste my time (again) and type out a 275 title strong list of the masterpieces of the 1970s, and that's on the conservative estimate side of things, but then decided to leave this silliness alone.

This IS, after all, the UNpopular opinions thread.

Wrong. The 80's is my favorite movie decade as that was during my teen years. I have nothing against films of any other time period, whether they are sequels, remakes, or part of a franchise.

Golden Globes should cease to exist and Oscars should create TV categories.

I love the 1940s. Lots of great noir films and a peak decade for some of my favourite actresses like Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth, Barbara Stanwyck.

Everyone knows Dylan's period after Oh Mercy was crap up until Time Out of Mind. Though I happen to like Under the Red Sky. But that seems to be an unpopular opinion for another thread.

The Golden Globes are irrelevant. It's a TV show first, an elitist celebrity party second, and an awards show third. Nobody takes it that seriously.

The Emmy's are the TV Oscars.

The Oscars are for film.

Tbh, all award shows are just elitist celebrity parties. Even the sacred Oscars.

Aliens is a sequel
The Thing is a remake

There is nothing wrong with sequels and remakes if the execution is done right.

The Emmy's are the TV Oscars.

If only the Oscars were for film, instead of letting streaming flicks in. At least there is generally some token theatrical release, and sometimes even home media release, but it's still not a real film, for many reasons but up near the top of the list of 'em is this new habit of holding back the "real" version of the flick.

When streaming movies, like Napoleon and Killers...moon, have ultra-extended (read: pretentious) cuts that are exclusive to streaming, do the Oscars judge those in lieu of whatever made it to theaters?

I misspoke. I hate them all. I think the Globes are the absolute bottom of the barrel. You guys are right. I don't care about the Oscars at all. Lots of issues with it but my personal beef is genre bias... no a Holocaust drama isn't automatically better than Evil Dead Rise.

I avoided the 4K of Forrest Gump due to poor PQ reviews, but recently saw it for cheap so i just went ahead and snagged it. Call me blind or crazy, but I suppose my unpopular opinion would be that it didn't look that bad, like at all... in fact I found it quite pleasing overall, and don't know what was so awful about it.

The worst kind of heretic. Burn HIM!!! The internets have no place for "didn't look that bad".

This is the perfect example of why I don't go by other reviews.

The 2008 re-release of "Superman Returns" on blu-ray is a great example of it. Kenneth Brown gave the video quality 2.5/5. The video is actually fine. If anything deserves a 2.5/5 it would be the CGI/special effects. But even that doesn't deserve a 2.5/5.
