I would advise against buying the HK BD of 2.22 if at all possible, as it was released on a BD-25 and thus its PQ is relatively poor due to massive amounts of macroblocking visible during action scenes. I've personally owned that disc, and as such experienced its issues first-hand.

Of course this was Neofilms' first Evangelion BD release (as the HK home video rights for the first movie were originally licensed to "Asia Video") but they learned their lesson and applied it to their later 1.11 and 3.33 BDs which used proper BD-50 discs for both.

I've been wanting to say this for a while, so here it goes...

Y'all are the most impatient people around. Just wait. It will probably be worth it, and I've already given potential reasons why they've not said anything yet. If you were willing to wait years for an announcement to even happen, what's a few more months?

Rant over.

The most annoying part is people constantly asking the exact same thing. As if the entire thread wouldn't be packed with comments discussing any and all announcements. If you don't see any news there's a very simple reason why: because there is none. You don't need to ask twice a week.

So, so very much this. This sub-section of Blu-ray.com will blow up when a release date is announced. It’ll be everywhere. How in the world people haven’t figured this out is beyond me. Next one to ask should be banned. Almost.

FUNimation licensed and did the English dubs for the first three Rurouni Kenshin live action films but The Final movies are licensed by Netflix and dubbed by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Netflix also picked up the streaming rights to the first three films.
What is happening with this, though, is that Netflix and Bang Zoom! got to use the same FUNimation voice cast for the dubs of The Final films.

Hopefully, a similar thing can happen with GKIDS' English dub of 3.0+1.0, while the first three Rebuild films would still use the FUNimation dub. Too bad Studio Khara, Netflix and VSI didn't get the FUNimation Rebuild cast to dub the original series and movies.
Let's just hope that GKIDS/Anime Ltd. UK is actually crazy enough to make another Neon Genesis dub but with the Rebuild cast and a tweaked version of the Netflix translation.

GKIDS and Anime Ltd. UK use NYAV for their dubs. Your Name. was licensed by FUNimation in the US but Anime Ltd. UK commissioned the dub through NYAV. So a GKIDS dub of Evangelion would most likely be recorded by NYAV.

GKIDS used Studiopolis to dub their Ghibli films, so they’re not above using other studios. Even with NYAV, they got the old Lupin III cast back for Lupin III: The First, so they do care about dub consistency at least somewhat. I have a feeling that they’d get most of the Rebuild cast back for 3.0+1, either through a collab with FUNi or with some type of remote recording for some of the actors. I doubt Netflix will get the film if the rumors are true about them being unhappy with the OG series’ streaming numbers. And yeah, I would love an Eva redub with the Rebuild cast (except maybe with Amanda Winn Lee as Rei, who I prefer over Brina Palencia).

Earwig was dubbed in NYAV.
That said, I did not like Amanda Winn-Lee's alterations to the movie dubs and they are the main reason why I actually prefer the Netflix/VSI/khara dubs of the movies.

My ideal release for Evangelion would have both ADV (in original Dolby Surround and remastered 5.1) and Netflix (with restored Fly Me to the Moon) dubs alongside both original stereo and 5.1 remastered Japanese audio.
The Manga dubs for the movies were mixed in 6.1 surround, though, so they should be presented only as 6.1 surround tracks.

That is not including the possible GKIDS redub.
Either the Rebuild films would get redubs with the Netflix cast or the OG series and films would get redubs with the Rebuild cast and a tweaked version of the Netflix script.

And I would also include everything that was included in the Japanese Blu-ray and Archival DVD box sets. Including:
- The original theatrical releases of D&R and EoE (Blu-ray BOX).
- The TV version of D&R and the original TV airings of the series (Archives of Evangelion DVD BOX).
- All the various bonuses included between these two box sets.
The AoE content should be in SD Blu-rays instead of DVDs instead like what Anime Ltd. is doing with the original version of Gundam Seed packaged with the HD Remastered Blu-ray.

Either the Netflix cast would redub the Rebuild films or the Rebuild cast would redub Neon Genesis. I would much prefer the latter.

I was really just talking about Amanda's performance as Rei, and I guess I can understand the issues surrounding the movies. For GKIDS' set, ideally both dubs should be included for everything, but in a perfect world, I wouldn't complain about a redub (or even a partial redub) of the TV series/movies with the ADV script and Rebuild cast. I really enjoy the ADV dub, but the supporting characters sound amateurish a lot of the time, and ADV should've redubbed the show from scratch for the Platinum edition like they originally considered. It's unfortunate that the Netflix dub has such a horrible script that makes it borderline unwatchable because the cast is mostly pretty good, even if I still prefer the ADV voices for most characters.

The biggest thing I'm looking forward to about this getting a release announcement is being free from checking this ridiculous thread.
