I'm the opposite, with one important caveat. I flat out won't watch anything that's less than 1080p. So DVD is out. As far as sound is concerned, while I can discern a difference between lossy DD/DTS and their respective lossless counterparts on disc, I have increasingly found myself impressed with how good lossy DD+ ATMOS tracks can be with streamed content.
I'm fortunate to have reliable gigabit internet so, while I can experience the odd streaming related artifact, and I can notice that Netflix has lowered their bandwidth, the results are not so agregious that it ruins my enjoyment of the film. If it did, to the extent that it kept me from being drawn in by the story, then the title probably would not warrant a rewatch by me.
With the exception of Tarantino or a true Star Wars film, there is very little that drags me into the cinema. Ironically, I would have gone to see THE IRISHMAN if it wasn't offered day and date for home presentation and my intention was to take my daughter for the next two HALLOWEEN installments.
Until recently, my first watch of most titles was on physical disc. With shortened release windows, I've found myself shifting towards streaming for first viewing. Classic remasters like True Romance, The Dead Zone and the F13 SHOUT boxset warranted a physical disc purchase.
Just to be clear, I meant on disc in the HT or cinema when I mentioned first time experience.

I purchased and watched a DVD just yesterday.
I certainly would have rather found the movie in higher quality.
I'll take a DVD over ad breaks assuming higher quality is not available.
I have watched Pink Floyd The Wall several times over the years. First on VHS and then in theaters and now via DVD. I threw out all my VHS in 1999 but for me DVD can still be good.
I have compared my DVD copy of Earth Girls are Easy to the iTunes HD download and steam and there's no benefit with the HD copy which was likely sourced from SD.

After over a year with limited contact with other people it was extremely nice having a few extra faces in the house. The inside of their home is mostly done now and they decided to move back in and settle in before September.

'Free Guy' enjoys a pandemic-era record hold as it crosses $100 million globally in its first 10-days. Elsewhere, new offerings 'The Protege' and 'Reminiscence' fall apart in their box office debuts.

The family-friendly action-comedy, starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Shawn Levy, fell a mere 34 percent in its second weekend to $18.8 million for a 10-day domestic total of $58.8 million. Free Guy, sporting the lowest decline of any film opening north of $10 million in the pandemic era, had no trouble staying at No. 1 thanks to great word of mouth.
Overseas, it was also a hero, earning $17.1 million from 46 markets as it sailed past the $100 million mark globally to finish Sunday with a worldwide total of $111.9 million. It stayed No. 1 in many territories, including the U.K., and overall fell just 26 percent international.
Free Guy‘s closest competitor over the weekend was Paramount’s PAW Patrol: The Movie, which opened to a better-than-expected $13 million domestically despite the fact that it also debuted day and date on Paramount+. (Free Guy is receiving an exclusive theatrical release for 45 days before heading to Disney+.)
PAW Patrol, produced by Spin Master and adapted from the television series, did best in the South and Midwest. It also overperformed in Canada, where Spin Maser is based. Audiences bestowed the film with an A- CinemaScore, while kids gave it glowing exit scores.
The animated film is also doing pleasing business overseas, where it earned another $12.8 million this weekend from 33 territories for a foreign total of $21.5 million and $34.5 million worldwide.
Among holdovers, Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which is available in the home via Disney+ Premier Access, also held in well its third outing to place No. 3. The Dwayne Johnson-Emily Blunt starrer grossed $6.2 million for a domestic total of $92.5 million and $173.7 million globally.
Disney’s overall weekend grosses included Luca‘s China debut. The Pixar film is the first Hollywood tentpole to receive a release date in the Middle Kingdom in months. Luca came in No. 2 with $5 million, which, in comparison to other Pixar titles, is 83 percent ahead of Onward and 9 percent behind Soul.
In North America, Sony and Stage 6’s Don’t Breathe 2 came in fourth with roughly $5 million, followed by MGM and UAR’s Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, starring Jennifer Hudson. Respect fell 57 percent to $3.8 million for a 10-day domestic total of $15.7 million.
Warner Bros.’ The Suicide Squad placed No. 6 with $3.4 million for a domestic total of $49.3 million and $140.8 million globally. (The DC pic can also be viewed on HBO MAX).
Three new offerings followed, all of which fell flat in their box office debuts, beginning with adult action-thriller The Protege starring Michael Keaton, Maggie Q and Samuel L. Jackson. From Lionsgate and Millennium, The Protege had trouble cracking $3 million.
Coming in No. 8 was The Night House, starring Rebecca Hall. The horror pic grossed roughly $2.8 million after earning a C CinemaScore.
Reminiscence, another movie opening simultaneously in the home via HBO Max and on the big screen, bombed in its debut despite a high-profile cast. The Warner Bros.’ science-fiction thriller opened to an estimated $2 million weekend for a ninth-place finish.
Directed by Lisa Joy, Reminiscence stars Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, Thandiwe Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira and Daniel Wu. The movie earned mixed reviews from critics and fared even worse with audiences, who gave it a C+ CinemaScore.
Both Reminiscence and The Protegee — Respect — need older audiences, who are the most reluctant to return to movie theaters amid another surge in COVID-19 cases that are largely attributable to the delta variant, according to polling data.
Plans fell through for The Night House and The Protege, as well. Now that I'm able they wanted me to work some extra hours, which is fine. I can always use more money. I was able to binge stuff on Netflix. Watched the second season of this really cool Mexican series called "Control Z." The second season dropped a couple of weeks ago on there. It's in Dolby Vision and 5.1, but look and sound terrific. I will probably watch Sweet Child tonight. That one is in 4K DV / Atmos.

I wanted to catch Reminiscence in theaters but my youngest Stepson got married this past Saturday so with everything going on we had to settle for HBO Max. I quite enjoyed it. Very much a neo-noir with some interesting concepts (thought they are VERY similar to Strange Days, another movie I love). It could have used some more breathing room and I didn't think the score suited the material but I will definitely add it to my library. Just hoping for a 4K release.

They may have to follow what other sites are doing, insert ads or pay for access without ads. Bill Hunt of the Digital Bits says Amazon does not pay what it used to pay. Could be the same for this site as Amazon is the only listed affiliate.
Recently purchased 5 titles and Indiana Jones UHD BD box set. Box set and one other other title had codes. Seems everyone is cutting back. Trial periods have been eliminated or cut back, my recent Apple TV 4K purchase has only 3 months of Apple+.
