Well the plot in this one is quite basic. It's nothing like the 2014 Godzilla movie, it's more on par with KOTM, although I personally didn't find anything stupid in GvK. You might like this, you might not. Opinions vary. Either way I want to see this again in 3D, for that final battle alone.

I know were not supposed to care about the plots in the monster verse movies lol, its about the monsters kicking the shit out of each other. But that whole terrorist thing and the downfall of humanity over it was just wtf it made no sense to me at all.

The plot in KOTM wasn't good but I still prefer it over series of loose connections that stringed together G14. At least the characters in KOTM had a reason to keep following the monsters around.

And it's really not like there's many Godzilla films with good plots. Most are just to fill in a run time and bring the monsters together for battle. Which is what it sounds like with GvK. Who cares what ridiculous reasons they come up to make a story.

I'm waiting for someone to make a kaiju movie that embraces the concept fully, completely abandoning any attempt to tell a human story at all, and just telling the story from a kaiju's perspective.

I misjudged what day March 31st was. I thought it was on a Thursday, not tomorrow. I'm gonna cram Godzila '14 and King of the monsters tonight I guess.

As someone who just finished marathoning the Criterion Showa-era Godzilla boxset, can confirm. There was maybe 5 that had interesting human plot lines. Most degenerated to WWE matches, and I was there for it. I actually liked KOTM. Also liked SHIN GODZILLA as a throwback to the first movie.

I said there are not many. There are a handful of Godzilla films with pretty good storylines.
Most Godzilla films start with the monsters and a story gets developed from there. Ones like G54 and Shin stand out because it developed as a story about a monster instead of the other way around.

G14 felt like taking the monster vs monster concept and slapping on whatever plot points they could connect to it. KOTM just wanted to unleash a world of monsters. Kong SI mainly just established the character of Kong into the world just for the crossover while sticking to concepts from other Kong films. There hasn't really been any attempts at quality story telling here, but the MonsterVerse is just another attempt to grab what the MCU captured. I'm honestly getting a tired of cinematic universes and sequel baiting though.

True but WB just announced that it will be available VOD in Ontario. Still not paying $30 for a rental.
