They have a ton of young talent I just hope AJ McCarron can play up to his potential.

Would be funny if Alabama and Maryland play each other next season and the Crimson Tide end any hopes of Maryland having a great season.

Nah we don't play an elite school until Texas and that should be here in a few seasons.

Do you have any odds whether USC will get to be in the Coaches Poll next year (and thus, the BCS standings)? It all depends upon their appeal hearing on January 22nd!

Yeah it won't matter if that bowl game suspension is upheld, I think they played better then I expected, especially when you know from the start you have nothing to play for.

All I know
Quote:
With controversial decisions regarding Auburn quarterback Cam Newton and Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor fresh in the public mind -- and with an appeal hearing by USC less than a month away -- the NCAA on Wednesday issued another statement regarding its decision-making process.

"Several media and others recently concluded that very different situations involving student-athlete eligibility should be considered independent of their unique circumstances or interpreted with a 'one size fits all' approach," the NCAA said.

"In particular, they are comparing recent decisions involving The Ohio State University and Auburn University (and others). Some have even suggested the NCAA plays favorites in these types of situations based in part or in whole on financial considerations.

"Nothing could be farther from the truth."

The NCAA announced last week that Pryor and several teammates who violated preferential-treatment bylaws would be suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season but that all of the players would be allowed to participate in the Jan. 4 Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.

The announcement came three weeks after the NCAA determined that Newton was eligible despite the fact that his father broke NCAA rules for his role in a pay-for-play scenario when his son was being recruited from a junior college. Cam Newton later won the Heisman Trophy and will lead Auburn against Oregon in the Bowl Championship Series title game on Jan. 10.

"The notion that the NCAA is selective with its eligibility decisions and rules enforcement is another myth with no basis in fact," the NCAA said in its statement Wednesday. "Money is not a motivator or factor as to why one school would get a particular decision versus another. Any insinuation that revenue from bowl games in particular would influence NCAA decisions is absurd, because schools and conferences receive that revenue, not the NCAA."

USC, which was hit with some of the strongest sanctions in college sports history, is scheduled to appear before the NCAA's Infractions Appeals Committee on Jan. 22 in Indianapolis.

It's very evident how inflated Denard Robinson's Big 10 stats are seeing him play an SEC opponent.

9-4 was still pretty disappointing. Losing to both Notre Dinero and Washington (both at the Coliseum) were a bit demoralizing. Putting a beatdown on the effing bRuins put a bright spot at the end of the season, however!

I like CLK, despite the so-so season. He instills MUCH more discipline to the Trojans than CPC ever did/could. He (CLK) also doesn't play favorites.

We'll see. Texas wasn't all that elite this year. Probably just a down year but Mack Brown better turn things around next year. Your job is never safe as Texas head coach.

It's the NCAA. They don't need to make sense or justify anything.

I don't see a problem with it. Apparently it cannot be proven that Newton himself knew or benefitted from receiving anything from Auburn. Ya, it's obvious he almost certainly did since it's his dad, but it cannot be proven. Pryor on the other hand was proven that he accepted cash and benefits. I hate the NCAA and their stupid rules, but rules are rules.

Ya... here are the 2011 recruiting rankings. Not surprisingly Texas is #1.

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...k/2011/all/all

1. Texas
2. Alabama
3. Florida St.
4. Oklahoma
5. Clemson (?!?)
6. USC
7. LSU
8. Ohio St.
9. North Carolina (?!?)
10. Oregon

I'm hoping UCF gets a nice boost in recruiting from their conference title and Bowl game win.

LOL you said Clemson and UNC. How did USC recruit like that, I thought they couldn't give out scholarships.

I believe USC only has to cut the number of scholarships by 10 or so. They can still give them out. And their probation isn't for too long.

Surprised the Gators and the good Big 10 schools aren't on that list, mildly surprised that BSU isn't on the list either.

Boise St. isn't in the Top 50 much less Top 10. They are rarely ever highly ranked in recruiting, which is remarkable considering how good they always are.

Somehow FSU always seems to be top 5, year in year out. Yet their recruits usually seem to underachieve. The Gators will climb the list. Don't forget they just brought in a new coaching staff.

USC found a loophole in the NCAA COI ruling in June 2010. USC was able to stock up on early enrollees that count toward the Class of 2010 (last year's class), not 2011. Also, if the NCAA COA doesn't rule on the appeal by NLI day, USC will sign a full class of 25 for 2011 to get close to 85 scholarship players.

I was in the stands when the Trojans played Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium this past September. USC dressed 56 for the game.

FU NCAA!
