I suspect it is releated to the EDID because my projector is a true 4K device (4096 x 2160) but only 8 bits. Apple Display HUD displays this while playing UHD content from Disney+ but only outputs 1920 x 1080 and it does play with Atmos sound. Star Wars on the ATV via Disney MA does play in UHD with Atmos. Star Wars on the ATV via Vudu does play in UHD but with PCM sound, on the Shield it plays in UHD with Atmos sound. My Star Wars UHD BD always play in UHD with Atmos and at the correct frame rate. ![]() |

I have pointed out video aberrations with a pointer to viewers and most just never see what I am trying to get them to see. If you have a IPTV source device that you can set to 23.976 frame rate or turn Off match frame if it has that feature then go to Netflix and search Test Patterns, Season 1. Play Episode 1 (23.976 fps) and watch the motion of the black dot, it should be smooth. Next play Episode 2 (24 fps) and tell me what you see. Do the same for Episode 3 (25 fps). As always, be careful what you learn, once learned...... *The Shield requires Refresh Rate app to match frame rate, will show 25 when you start to play 25 fps content but you have to manually select 25. |

@gotmule
Do you plan to do a Auro-3D recommended speaker setup to use with your new AVP? I would like to hear Blade Runner 2049 in Auro-3D. Have started to search for BD with Auro-3D sound tracks to procure in case I get a new AVP with Auro. A list here. Last edited by Wendell R. Breland; 09-04-2021 at 03:47 PM. |

1) it is not about liking wireless or not. Some of my devices are wired some are not. nearly 20 years ago I ran cable to places that needed it, like my office, HT..... but these days Wifi is extremely good and there is no need to run cables to other places where ethernet was not needed back when my walls were open and I could easily do it. It would be wasting insane amounts of money to make holes in my walls pull cable when it adds nothing 2) did you actualy see the video? a) did you miss where he said his point was not about Netflix or other streaming prioviders but for people that have NAS and intranet streaming? b) where he said the ethernet port included in the TVs he reviews is crap and so he adds a USB to ethernet connector so that the TV can match the wireless connection? 3) yes he did talk about possible issues with wireless (which are real) but just because he was trying to sell his usb to Ethernet adapter solution (that won't necessarily work with all TVs) that does not mean that Ethernet does not have its own issues. As someone that started off his career in networking a) cables can be badly terminated creating noise b) rodents love nibbling on ethernet cables c) kinks in the cable can create noise d) distance also affects Ethernet e) (not that I do that- and I recommend having a quality router to everyone and segregate networks with firewalls) but my ISPs device has wi-fi built in and one ethernet port so minimally I would not need anything else. But with ethernet that would mean necessarily adding a router and hubs. And the more devices you have the more the cost and the possibility of problems and wired requires more devices. …. 4) we have been over this many times but a) play back issues happen when information does not get to the device in time or maybe ever. They can happen with any media (for example a smudge on a disk). And when it comes to streaming it can be wifi issues but it is way more likely to come from the ISP and internet. But no one is talking or cares about that since people can do something about that (replace router add more points closer to device....) b) quality issues is what is being discussed by everyone other then you. a 1080p picture has over 2M pixels per frame and 4k has over 8M each pixel can have millions of colour(and takes several bytes of space) and each second hase many frames. that is why HDMI has a Bandwith of 48Gbps. Obviously files large enough for a movie would be colossal and no home media comes close to offering it. Luckily that is not important two frames might be 100% the same so why would you need to send the info twice? so uit is easy to go with a small fraction of that BW and not have any quality issues. BUT be it disk or streaming none of them come close to high enough for lossless compression and then you have quality issues and because streaming does not have BW close to physical media the quality issues are simply much grater. 5) my final 2 cents given the option over wireless or wired I will always pick wired, if nothing else it frees up wireless BW for devices that can't handle wired, but, for the most part, I would not spend money on wiring an unwired place, it can be a lot cheaper and easier to get rid of any wireless issues one might have and when it comes to NAS they can be an issue but when it comes to streaming over the internet they are most likely not problematic. |

I use Auro primarily as an upmixer but do have the Auro demo disc which sounds awesome. I have kicked around grabbing some native content. Once again, you may be costing me some money with this nudge. |
