Unpopular Movie Opinions: Part III

Martin Scorcese has ONE really good movie and it’s Goodfellas. The rest are either barely mediocre or terrible.

The Harry Potter movies are drawn out and boring. Barely 4 films worth of content stretched into like what, 8 movies? Cmon.

Michael Bays The Island is better sci-fi than the vast majority of the sci-fi we’ve gotten over the last decade or so. Like way better.

You hear that Mean Streets, After Hours, Age of Innocence, Kundun, The Aviator, Silence, etc.

Scorcese--- TAXI DRIVER? CAPE FEAR? CASINO? Terrible to barely mediocre?

Harry Potter--- your opinion mirrors mine on THE LORD OF THE RINGS films... love Harry Potter series though!

I liked The Island.... not quite as much as you apparently...

Fair enough, friend. This is the thread for such things. Just cant get on with Marty movies outside of G-Fellas.

Interesting that our opinions mirror between LOTR and Potter.

Outside of a few choice films, like the Dune films(just watched Dune 2 this afternoon!) sci-fi has disappointed me big-time over the last decade or whatever. They all have grand ideas & then devolve into "family issues" BAAARRRRFFFFF.

"Taxi Driver" is trash. "Cape Fear" is ok. "Casino" is Scorsese's best.

That movie started with a cool idea and sci-fi concept but went right down the typical route of mommy daughter issues. A damned shame. I was so mad. This same lame thing happened in so many modern sci-fi films. When they announce new ones it scares me off. I assume that the grand sci-fi idea will just end up being some guy or gal finding their dead parent. Just stop it.

I find Casino overrated in Scorsese's filmography, seems to score higher these days. I enjoy it, but he's just running through the motions.
