I wish there were more options for UK releases for Canadians without costing an arm and a leg.
Amazon U.K. is pretty bad these days in my experience. My most recent order I paid for "Global Priority", their most expensive and fastest delivery service. Don't bother. They sent it Australia Post Global which then transferred it to Purolator Ground. Exactly the same service as their lowest-priced standard service.

These were just regular discs in a plastic case with an O-ring. Every shipment arrived in a thin cardboard envelope and was smashed. The discs are fine, but I had to throw away the cases (and those are hard to replace here because they are thicker and the labels are too wide to fit in a North American case). My track record is about 2/3rd of stuff coming from Amazon U.K. arrives noticeably damaged.

Expect a beat up box for sure. If you can, try to order from elsewhere.

All of this took nearly two months of fights and frustration with employees constantly telling me different information. After I got the amazon credit, every employee I talked to said it was impossible to refund me on my visa since they had already given me the credits, even though I had two emails assuring me they would.
I told myself i'd never buy from amazon uk ever again. Their customer service is one of the worst i've ever dealt with. I rebought the Texas limited edition on Second sight's website directly and it cost me 97 frigging bucks but at least it's in pristine condition.
God I hate amazon. They treat their customers like crap and lie again and again. Never buy from amazon uk a limited edition, they will drive you insane. :P

The worst is, when I pre-ordered this item I talked to 4 different employees asking for this to be well packaged. They all assured me it would be and that i'd get my item in perfect condition. Obviously none of them cared or did anything about it and it came all beat up.
Yes, they offered to give me a refund if I sent it back, but from previous experience it would probably cost me $60 or so to send it back with tracking, and I didn't want to have to wait weeks for them to refund that to me. And I too was worried it would end up being Amazon credit, as that's what they gave me for another title that they weren't able to send out after already charging me for the item.

Now I just have to decide if I want to spend the time and money searching out one in better condition or just accept it as much as it kills me haha.

Actually, write to Second sight. They offer to send box replacement as long as you pay 10 pounds for the shipping. If I had know, that's what I would have done with my amazon copy instead of going through all that trouble.

I actually sent them a message to see if they had any extras they are willing to sell. Hopefully they get back to me.

Did anybody order from Amazon UK recently? If so, was the order shipped with APG or DHL? At the beginning of the year it seemed like they were only using DHL.

Amazon

Does anyone know what is up with the import fees that Amazon U.K. seems to want to add to a Blu-ray boxset order? This is for a single item sold and shipped by Amazon on which I'd nominally owe 5% GST:

Given that Canada Post and the CBSA seem to be getting more attentive with charging customs fees and sales taxes on lower valued orders, I thought I'd see if there would be some benefit in prepaying these customs fees via Amazon U.K.'s upgraded shipping option.

Quick question, I have some old gift cards on amazon uk I still need to use. Anybody know if I use it on two pre-orders (in the same order but that both ship at different dates) if when the first item ship it will use all of my gift card or will it split the gift cards in two and use part of it on both items? I'm kind of tight on cash right now and i'm hoping it would use all of my gift card on the first item (I save on shipping if I order two items). Thanks!
