Wisconsin failed on their 2-point attempt. That should be the game.

Non-BCS schools are now an amazing 5-2 all-time in BCS games.

2004 Fiesta - Utah Won
2006 Fiesta - Boise St. Won
2007 Sugar - Hawaii Lost
2008 Sugar - Utah Won
2009 Fiesta - Boise St. Won
2009 Fiesta - TCU Lost
2010 Rose - TCU Won

Just watch. Now the pro-BCS idiots will just use TCU's win in the Rose Bowl to claim how great the BCS is for college football.

Very predictable follow-up to what I posted earlier. Pittsburgh has fired recently hired new head coach Mike Haywood after his arrest for domestic battery.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5978467

Quote:
Pitt fires new coach Mike Haywood

Pittsburgh fired football coach Mike Haywood on Saturday, saying he could not continue in the job he held for only 2½ weeks because of his arrest on a domestic violence charge.

Haywood was released Saturday from St. Joseph County Jail in Indiana on $1,000 cash bond, said an officer at the jail who declined to give her name, after the charge was upgraded from a misdemeanor to felony domestic battery in the presence of a minor.

Within hours of Haywood's afternoon release, Pittsburgh put out a statement from Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg, saying Haywood had been dismissed, "effective immediately," and the school was reopening its search.

i'll argue this somewhat. ..

2004- utah played a weak pitt team

2006- lack of motivation for oklahoma, not to mention they have lost every
BCS bowl they have played in i believe

2008- alabama didnt care after losing the SEC title game to florida

2009- they played each other, so they didnt beat a "big 6" conference team

2010- i'll give TCU the credit here, wisconsin wanted to win this game, no excuses on their part

so while they are 5-2 on paper, its a bit misleading in my opinion

Alabama "didn't care" in a BCS bowl against Utah? Are you serious?

If you are going to use criteria like that, then there hasn't been a meaningful BCS bowl(outside the #1/#2) game ever, because you can always come up with some BS reason why the team that lost didn't really count. Always.

Here I'll start: The Big 10 today didn't feel like it needed to show up because they proved they were excellent throughout the year, so going 0-5 today in mostly blowouts didn't really matter, nor count for the winners.

*EDIT* Excuse me, forgot the Northwestern loss. 0-5 today, way to represent Big 10.

Guess it's a done deal. Honestly I'm surprised Weis would go back to college football not as head coach but as an assistant. Either way it's a very nice pickup for the Gators. Weis is a terrific offensive coordinator.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5979522

Quote:
Florida hires OC Charlie Weis

A person familiar with the decision says Florida Gators has hired former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis as offensive coordinator.

The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the move has not been formally announced, says it will made public Monday.

Weis, hired at Notre Dame five years ago when Urban Meyer turned the Irish down to come to Gainesville, is currently the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs are headed to the playoffs, and Weis will remain with them throughout the postseason. Weis won't go on the road recruiting at least for a week, but he will be to call recruits.

I'm also confused on why he'd say Alabama "didn't care" playing in a Super Bowl against Utah yet they cared enough today to destroy Michigan St. by 6 touchdowns in a lesser bowl game.

One thing I will say however is that a long layoff of something 6 weeks between the last regular season game and the Bowl game has a funny effect for some teams. It's yet another reason why we need a legit playoff. These layoffs are beyond ridiculous. The "National Title Game" is January 10th for crying out loud!

Yeah but they'd been down all season this year so why not play up, the Utah game you just got kicked in the face and lost out on a national championship to a conference rival no way Utah mattered as much as that.

Florida was in an almost identical situation in 2009 as Alabama in 2008. Alabama lost their undefeated season to Florida in the SEC title game and turned around and lost badly to Utah in the Sugar Bowl. But last year Florida lost to Alabama in the SEC Title Game which ended their national title hopes only to turn around and win a blowout in the Sugar Bowl. Some teams just react differently.

Well I mean it was the Legend Tim Tebows last game so that might have had something to do with it.

i'm quite serious actually....if youre an 18-21 year old, youre playing florida in the sec title, both teams are 12-0, national title on the line...you lose and youre dream for a national title is gone....heres Utah, enjoy your month of prep for a game that you have no desire to be playing in...these are kids, motivation is a big factor in any bowl game

and to reply to why florida didnt lose to Cinci, the answer is indeed tebow, a once in a generation player

Gotta agree with Kev on this one. It was clear to anyone watching that game that Bama simply didn't give a damn anymore after having their heart cut out by Florida.

Regarding these Big 10 teams that got smacked around today...which of them were Legends and which were Leaders?

Sorry. Couldn't resist. Still bothered by that whole naming debacle.

Yeah I get that joke

and I also agree I get why Utah was so hyped for the game, but who would care after your whole season was for 1 game and instead you play fricking Utah

Yeah, those players trying to improve their draft stock? Don't care.

The coaches who want to give the Alumni a show and improve their own resume? Yeah, they don't care either.

I watched that game. And what I remember seeing was a damn impressive Utah team beating the crap out of a team which was completely unprepared to get blindsided by an "easy" opponent.

ANYONE who claims that Alabama didn't care in that game is part of the BCS consortium, who doesn't want Alabama to have cared because that would violate the concept that the Big 6 "real" conferences are infallible.

As a reference, Boise State wasn't supposed to care after losing to Nevada either, and they came out and dominated. Ditto with the aforementioned Florida.

i cba arguing with someone who doesnt understand the dynamics of this....if you want to think alabama was 100% enthused and pumped about playing Utah then you go ahead and think that...if there was not a mental aspect of sports there would never be any upsets,...favored team would win every time, but thats not the case, emotion and focus are a BIG part of college sports

So what makes you think Wisconsin was 100% enthused and pumped about playing TCU? What exactly did you see in today's game that makes them somehow different than Bama against Utah?

becuase the rose bowl is the only BCS bowl game outside the BCS title game that means a great deal to teams playing in it

So what you are saying is wins and losses don't prove anything. Can't argue with logic like that.

However, if wins and losses DON'T mean anything, then why do the Big 6's wins and losses actually matter? Because you say so? Because you WANT them to?
