Didn't Scorsese say at Blu-Con that Criterion is doing an HD transfer of the film?

well they have the rights, and, of course, the restored bd is out in the UK, so I feel confident that comment most likely means it is coming fairly soon.

I would say they might even do a DVD re-release.

Default Case Exchange Program

Are there any news about the case exchange program? Specifically, is there anything on Criterion's homepage with regard to that? I am asking because I didn't find anything and I need to get exchange boxes for Chungking Express, The Last Emperor, The Last Metro, Last Year in Marienbad, The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Third Man.
Any help will be highly appreciated! Thank you very much!

I have read that the plan is to offer the cases at $5 a piece if you want one.
They are waiting for them to arrive the last I heard.

Borat would be proud of Criterion's "Gomorrah" cover art!

Off-Topic (in terms of Blu-ray goodness) I'm watching my copy of Salo' for the...... I don't know.... 8th or 9th time now........ Still don't know how I feel about it after all of these viewings, but the film has many aspects that would benefit greatly from Blu-ray..... and many I cringe to watch on DVD as it is

I REALLY want to see this movie. I did notice that there are non-criterion versions of this film available on dvd. Are any of them worth the purchase? Also, is the movie as graphic as it's purported to be?

haven't seen any version other than my Criterion (which is rough around the edges in many scenes...... and quite good in others)

and YES..... it's pretty graphic..... depends what your threshold is I guess..... I don't think "Seeing it" is the disturbing part...... but the implications that are made....... the actions and meaning behind them is more powerful than the actual pictures....... in my opinion.

Salo is very graphic, disturbing and controversial in many different areas. This film would easily gat an NC-17 or even X if released today. Two other films that saw recently are Africa Addio and Goodbye Uncle Tom from Blue Underground are also quite graphic, disturbing & controversial.

Being fairly new to the Blu-Ray game with less than a year in and just umm 70 titles to my name. This Criterion sale at Barnes and Noble has got me excited to try some true Criterion titles on for size. I only have the Benjamin Button so far. My main interest is in the Monterey Pop Complete set being both hard to find and a bit pricey at $70.00, getting it at $35.00 is a steal (I doubt I would ever find it used or discounted at say a Best Buy), but just reading the brief summery on the Criterion films I am thinking maybe Third Man or the Seventh Seal as a nice start in the Criterion collection. Too bad the Rolling Stones Gimme Shelter will not be released in time for this sale. My questions to you guys is two fold with one being how is the Monterey Pop set I have read the review but have yet to see any users review it. The other question is what is a good non concert blu to start off with to maybe broaden my blu collection out a bit. The Che blu coming out next year looks mighty interesting also especially since Che is such a polarizing figure in post WWII history. Thanks for any insight you guys may give me.

Get The Third Man (if you can find since it's now OOP) and The Last Emporer, both are solid Criterion titles on blu!

There is a Blu-ray release of Salo in the UK. I'm not sure if it's region free, but it's a BFI release.

According to the review on this website, It's region B locked..... but i'd be interested in seeing a blu release of this film also. According to the BFI transfer, It could look absoultely amasing....

I plan on blind-buying The 400 Blows next week during B&N's sale. Hopefully my local store actually has it. I will also be buying The Seventh Seal as well, although that one is not a blind buy. I love that movie. There's some other ones I might consider blind-buying as well.
