The problem with that is that everyone has to have a streaming account.

Been invited to a shit load of them. I just won’t do them. I have watched others but I have no interest in trying. I can talk about films when I have watched them, not at the same time.

My internet service easily allows me to play multi-player online games while concurrently having a Zoom video call, so I guess I could attend/host a Mystery Science Theater themed watch party. I still think that could be a lot of fun.

I have some really good friends that are scattered far and wide, including as far away as New Zealand. I think we could enjoy watching a movie together in this manner, especially as there is no other way that we could watch one together. As we are all friends of long duration, I think we would all know how to behave while the movie is running.

HBO Max works fine for me once I select something to watch. Their home screen menu is clunky and slow to respond in my experience. Thankfully, the ad free version is an included perk with my cell phone service, otherwise I would not have it.

Good job on getting such a great price! Let us know what you think of their A/V quality after you have watched them.

I still need to watch the Spanish Dracula; for shame!

Amazon and Disney+ has the watch feature built in.

Indie Suppliers Going Straight to DVD

Quote:
With disc sales steadily declining, year after year, a number of independent suppliers are abandoning Blu-ray Disc and going back to DVD as the sole physical media distribution vehicle for their films. Their reasons range from cost to retail preference and consumer choice.

“About 75% of our films get released on DVD along with the digital release,” said Joe Amodei, president and CEO of Virgil Films & Entertainment. “The other 25% are digital only. I’d say only about 20% of our releases get a Blu-ray. I am primarily docs, and they just don’t sell like they used to.”

I'm not overly concerned about independent studios I've never heard of abandoning Blu-ray. There are still more that are happy to release a Blu-ray or give the rights to an indie distributor.

And with that thought,, I think Kino, Shout, Criterion, Indicator, Via Vision, Arrow, Severin and many other indies are doing just fine considering most of them are now releasing 4K.

Same here. I’m spending more than ever this year. I can add BFI, Vinegar Syndrome and 3DFA to that list.

Heck, I can’t keep up with these labels. I’m getting parcels every month.

I have ZERO worries about whether or not more titles will be released on blu-ray formats by boutique labels. Going back to sleep now until something truly scary is reported.

Well for now you can kind of relax, it looks like the Studios are trying to accommodate the Collectors. If you look at the latest Revenue Report the Average Cost for BD has gone up a little to $21.71, so this Format is probably okay not so much for 4K UHD. The Studios have to make a Profit to keep the Format going!
