LOL - I wonder how many people saw a GIF I thought I had posted in the General Chat: GIF thread - it wound up in the Movies: Cry Macho thread.

And like all you care about is weekly disc releases, all I care about is new content every month.

HBO Max will add 204 new titles in October.
Yeah, but you don’t OWN it. It just tv.

Correct. I don't want to own it. I just want to view it. My desire is to watch new to me content and pay a pittance for that pleasure.

In that case, it baffles me why you even frequent a HT/Blu-ray forum.

It isn't really all that baffling considering that this website has a substantial digital forum. Also, people can be very into home theaters without necessarily caring about buying discs or even EST.

Not everyone wants to purchase content; they are happy just to rent it in one form or another. Renting does not automatically mean that they only stream, either. There remain plenty of ways to rent discs.

In short, not everyone fits in your box.

Actually, you just think that you can.

Have always believed many posters did it for goading, jealousy or envy. As noted earlier, been going on a long time. During that LD time period we had HBO and Showtime and Starz via cable (later DirecTV and Dish) and 4 broadcasters. Also owned a Beta Hi-Fi and a VHS Hi-Fi. I wanted access to as much content as was feasible.

Not much has changed, do have more disc players, 1 auto BD, 3 BD, 3 UHD BD, 4 UHD streamer boxes, 5 DVB-S2 satellite receivers and 1 D-VHS D-Theater player. We like having a good variety!!!

I don't know that anyone is jealous of those that buy discs; that's not exactly hard to do or so expensive as to be economically exclusive. I can see where someone might be envious of someone else's home theater; some of our forum members have astounding set-ups that can make a person reflexively

The best selection will always be available to those that are open to enjoying both digital distribution and physical media. No matter how large my disc library becomes it will never contain many of the titles that can only be found in the digital realm. I use both as I wish to see all that I want, but I do not want to own all that I see.

I just think it’s telling that Lee joined and then instantly took it upon himself to keep track of the home media sales thread despite not giving a chuff what happens to disc. I’m just used to previous co tributes caring deeply about the format. I just have suspicions of his motives for doing such a thing.

My "motive" was very simple. I was the one who kept track of the media sales thread at the now defunk High Def Forum for 10 years. Went it went belly up, I joined here. I saw the updates were not being done on a timely basis so I started posting them. No one complained about it.

And the last time you whined and cried about it, Bruce told you he didn't have the time or the notion to keep up with it and was fine and glad that I was doing it.

Am I doing it wrong?

Or are you just being an elitist zealot?

For what purpose? Are you that desperate to get likes/thanks? I would not be wasting time keeping tabs on pop music sales for example, when I only listen to classical. (I don’t, it’s just an example)

Only took one course in psychology and it would appear most “normal” people have a motive for most everything they do. Why else did posters say, “my VHS looks almost as good as your LD.” A very few would actually admit: I really can not see or hear the difference ● It cost more than I can afford. Fewer less admitted they were envious.

The post that I really wish I had archived was on eTown during the DIVX DVD vs DVD days. Lots of foul language and name calling there. True colors showing through?

Likes and thanks? LMFAO!

I've been doing it for 12+ years. It's what I do.

Steedeel, I am going to say this as nicely as I possibly can . . . you and I are two different people with different motiviations for what we do here at BD.com. Maybe some day you will not only realize this but also accept it.

Some of that grumbling might just be upgrade fatigue. We hear it with each new format when people do not want to buy their movies again, compounded by the necessity of having to buy new hardware, to gain the benefits of the new format.

As a result they may undermine those benefits to justify not re-buying their collections and to avoid buying new devices. Eventually, most seem to accept the new kid on the block and before you know it the detractors become adopters.
