Remember that Dynaudio didn't start out building $1200 bookshelfs.... they started with $6K, 10k, 20k and 40k speakers..... that eventually turned into $100k and 3k speakers.... etc.

It appears that Totem went the way of many other Canadian companies, and that was to build high quality affordable speakers, and then build up to the higher end levels.
Huh a 2600$ bokshelf so called Model One is affordable to you?

Anyhow I see your point not exactly 20 000$

But yeah 5500$ a pair for On walls is Pricey but it's a step in the direction that should bring them to develop more affordable speakers eventually.

As for the Dyn driver, I am not sure, the contract with Dynaudio is that Dynaudio provides drivers to them for as long as they will keep those Models using the Dyn drivers.

I don't think they will ever replace the actual Dyn drivers on the Wind, they will rather develop a whole new speaker with a new Totem Driver.

actually the model one at $2600 is affordable... a price bookshelf, but still the avg person could buy a pair. a $6000 entry level tower.... ok, the avg joe is not going to be buying one of them.

Sorry, I didn't think they would still call the speaker the Wind, I naturally figued they would rename it the speaker, if not redesign the cabinet, although, I think technically they could just call it The Earth, and keep the same cabinet or similar, and it would still be OK.

Im sure you get my point.

I got your point I was just making sure you understood that for as long they will use the Dyndriver the Name will not change because they can't change it and since Vince would change drivers he would proboblay go for a new speaker design since the name would change.

Model One has been around for over 20 years now, when is the las time you saw a speaker manufaturer keep a speaker for over 20 years?

well at the moment, as we all know, Dynaudio is up there with the best driver companies in terms of what they have built. that is why companies like Wilson Audio, Totem and others (Eggleston uses the Esotar Tweeter) use or have used Dyn drivers or tweeters.

However I fully believe that Vince will one day want to have it all in house just like Dynaudio and Focal.

I say anything new from Totem will have an inhouse develop driver.

Only thing here is that they will not get rid of their classics like Model One for instance which is why I was told it could be around for another 20 years.

It could be another 20 more years using Dyn drivers on any model they wish to keep. Totem does not renew their line often if the speaker is a best seller they will keep them around.

well I would assume that the Forrest may be the speaker that comes up next. Its been around for a while now and it very well could take one of those 7" drivers on this new speaker, and have a 2-way design. It would be an inexpensive way to get the new technology into the hands of the people in that $3k-$4k price range. Think about it, you have one less driver, and a simplified cabinet design, one that is already in production, going from $7k per pair to a simpler $3750/pr... be a great way to "trickle down" the technology.

JMO....

However with the Sttaf, you would have to completely redesign the driver and perhaps the speaker cabinet, and that would be costly, same with the Hawk, although the Hawk has a bigger cabinet, it may make it a little easier to design a 6" version of the 7" driver.... but those may not see any changes for a while.

I tell you and will tell you again from a Totem perspective they would just redo somethig else and not name it the Forrest is they ever replace it which is why i don't see them renew it any time soon.

Maybe they could redesign the Forest to use a Totem driver instead of ATI but it's unlikely to happen they would just replace it by another speaker with a different name since it would sound different.

BTW The names of the speakers is base on state of mind Vince has when he hears the speaker, the name will come up depnding on what he hears.

He would not call a speaker the Earth to replace the Wind if it does not make sense.

When I listen to my Rainmakers I feel the Rain coming .

I am really trying to make you understand the Philosophy behind the Totem speaker names.

So if the Forest is next on the list then expect it to have a different name that will suit the new speaker better.

im not worried about the name, of course that should change, however, just saying that the forest would be an easy one to redo given its price and design. I said the Earth just to make you feel better about not calling it the Wind MK2 or something.. Jeez. Cut a guy some slack.

You mean the Ringmaker... hahaha

I wanted to make sure you understood how they work with names.

For now they are working on a new Floorstander between the Forest and Wind as you know. Also maybe a single woofer driver Tribe .5.

We'll see what comes next, Model One has been around for 20 years and Oh boy! Oh boy! does it sound amazing. Must be the Dyn driver.

If anyone is interested, I will be selling my Energys, looking at about $600 for a 5.1 setup. PM if interested. If you use Paypal, add 3%, can ship them.

Thanks for the info. My local store doesn't have them yet but a new Futureshop an hour and a half away from me does. I know it's Futureshop but I will check them out next time we head down there. Hope my guy here gets them soon so I can get a better listen! And the price is not as bad - I was expecting around the 5k range but MSRP is only $200 more than the Studio 100's. With that price now I'm really thinking it will be more like a marked up RC than a cheaper Verita.

I noticed the RC series is not on the Energy website any longer. Is it getting updated, replaced, or just removed? Looks like it was maybe replaced by the V series? It is in a similar but higher price range.

V series is the reborn Veritas which is in fact a reworked RC. Now is Energy going to come up with a cheaper RC line is a question we all ask ourselves.

I was actually kind of shocked at the price when I saw the price of them. I guess that's because it's the most expensive Energy speaker I've ever seen before.

The older Veritas 2.8 retailed a near 6000$ That was their true flagship back then when Klipsch did not own them.

Today I ordered my final set of speakers to my R Series collection. I got RC-Rs to place as my surrounds therefore pushing my RC-10s back to rear surrounds. I was wondering what setting on the RC-Rs you guys preferred and exactly what the difference is between bipole and dipole. Ive researched the difference alot already but haven't really found the definitive answer im looking for.
Thanks

Also I got the RC-Rs for $ 190 a piece from buy.com. Great price, 45% off of the $ 350 that energy ask for.

I would say bipole mode for most cases and versatility, Here's some instructive reading on the subject.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/speakers/6...ml#post1210747

BTW that gives you an amazing 7.1 setup, congrats on the purchase and I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks! wow i should have known to check bigdaddys post. ive been reading it all day and they both seem to have their benefits. i will definitely try them both and see which fits my room best. I am really excited to get these hooked up though. 7.1 has always interest me and i think the rc-r's will fit in great with the speaker family. it only took me two months to find the price that i wanted!

Well the Veritas line is now out so it helps.

In most cases bipole will be better as it's more versatile and it's alot easier for speaker placement.
