Blame the BDA, they are the ones that decided to break blu-ray into 3 different regions(which is actually less than dvd).
Plus you both are arguing from a standpoint of: I have to have this. Which is totally a YOU problem, not a ME problem(speaking in general terms of course).
It still does not dispute my point, that having more options is always a good thing.
I don't get this wigging out over 'an exclusive featurette' as they usually turn out to be nothing more than a half hour promo that ends up on youtube a few days later. I don't think I own one exculsive making of that made me think: "Well, that was certainly worth going to Best Buy for..."

I would trade these kind of exculsives for this kind any day of the week:

Keep in mind: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
You could import the UK steelbook and then buy the book on Amazon, for much cheaper? Granted all wouldn't come in a nice boxed set, but you'd have most everything.
Again, another example of having options!!

I agree with you 100%. Just pointing out that the America 'exclusives' don't seem to measure up to those across the pond (imo). I mean, there is a lot of WOW factor with that Jaws set. However, having more buying options is ALWAYS a good thing for the customer, makes companies compete for your hard earned dollar. More competition means, usually, higher quality material. But color me 'not impressed' with an exclusive making of featurette when there are probably going to be better options. Know what I mean?

Why don't you try to understand for once. I'm not arguing anything. I'm just stating the reality of it. Please don't use the word "argue" too much, because I'm not, I'm not attacking anybody. I don't understand why you have to be so offensive about it.

I don't have anybody in US to help me buy things in US and I can't afford eBay price for exclusives. I absolutely agree having more options is a good thing, just that it shouldn't be for select people. And what does it have to do with region-locking? My country is in the same Region A as you in US.

And if you read my original post, I wasn't talking about extra features exclusive. I was talking about limited release like School of Rock which is only available at Best Buy. It's just a single normal release not available anywhere else in any form. Let Amazon sell a barebone disc-only even, now that's an "option" and I will happily buy it.

I'm gonna call it a day. Thank you so much for your kind help to a fellow forum member.

Don't know if you're still reading but SCHOOL OF ROCK has been released in Australia. Maybe you could order it from there.

When I said "generally speaking" that doesn't mean not YOU(aiman04) specifically, but everyone who is against not having multiple purchasing options...ie, the mindset of not wanting more options.
As for BB not selling overseas, I understand that. It's just like Play.com(UK) or Futureshop(Canada owned by BB) don't ship to the US. Of course it's a bummer, and a little more pricy but they can be obtained. Just like BB exclusives can be obtained, you just have to work/pay a little more.
Also, keep in mind that BD collecting is a want, not a need. People don't need BD's, they want them. So with that in mind, yeah it's a shame that everyone in the world doesn't get everything...but that's just life!

i still think exclusives sucks and its pissing of most of the consumers just look at the people over at the Avengers BD thread there is certainly many that don't agree with you over there.

This Dark Knight Reborn Documentary looks really cool. What is there gonna be on the regular release for the wide release if they got such a documentary on an exclusive release. I fear the bonus material is going to be slim. That is whats pissing me of and many others please try and look at it from people that can't get this release if we want it

Is there a retail seller that sells best buy stuff that ship international?

I tried this...

then I remember that Europe gets tons of exclusive shit that we in North America can't get our hands on...

then I stopped feeling sorry for you

Still, I'm not losing any sleep over not getting certain edition of a movie, and seeing so many people whining about this indicates that blu-ray collecting has become an obsession rather than just a hobby

I do try to look at the picture, and I've come to this conclusion:
Nothing in life is perfect!
So, with that said, yeah it can be hectic if you are an avid collector and have to get everything. Again, that's a personal decision, and can't be held against the whole, IMO.
I'm sure TDKR is going to be a mirror image of Avengers from a retail standpoint. Every big retailer, all over the world, is going to want their exclusive. That's just the nature of business.
Kind of like dining...I certainly wouldn't want only 1 dining option. That would get boring real quick!
I don't know of any retail seller that specializes in BB exclusives for overseas. Your best bet is to find someone on these threads that would be willing to trade....US exclusives for overseas exclusives. Or just someone to flat out selll you US exclusives. It happens all the time here, and it's a huge plus this community has to offer.

Thanks that would be cool if someone would sell it here. But i really fear now whats on the regular release of TDKR just look at regular release of AVENGERS its almost barebones and i fear its the same here and imo that is just a wrong approach by the studio to do that for such a Big movie

Definitely check out the group buy threads, I'm sure you'll find something.
Yeah I'm interested to see what they are going to do with this release. I'm sure there will be several different versions, from which to choose.
Actually the Avengers was that bad once I broke it down. All I did was get the BB exclusive case, and I'm going to place the Target Exclusive edition in the case. I also had the briefcase Phase One set on order, but who knows what's going to happen with that now.
Anyway, I guess we'll be finding out about TDKR is a few weeks here with an official announcement.
Someone posted a pic of an exclusive set with the broken mask on disply...now that's pretty neat! Hopefully the studios give us something that isn't barebones!!

It's not true you can't get your hands on it. You just have to man-up and buy a multi-region player and pay through the nose and undergo the many and varied frustrations of importing, like EVERYONE outside your Superpower has to.

Your problem is the same as ours: You don't appreciate how lucky you are. Only moreso.

I think you are panicking a little bit early here. There are two releases currently for pre-order from Best Buy, and they will probably follow the recent Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows/Harry Potter 7 formula (both BIG Warner Releases). A cheap movie only/barebones release (hint, don't buy that one), then the standard Blu/dvd set loaded with features, and then finally a Steelbook/pretty packaging with useless trinket edition. I honestly don't think this is going to be a release like the Hunger Games...

On a side note, Warner hasn't even announced the release yet. Judging by Nolan/Warners last two films released on blu (Dark Knight/Inception) I think there will be plenty of special features.

Mi:4 and Avengers is one of the worst regular releases out. They are almost barebones and that is like spitting in the face of those that can't get the exclusives. I fear it will be the same with TDKR

Oh an Hunger Games regular release is amazing with little features and a 2 hour making of. That is how studios should release regular releases that will be available all over the world. Not this exclusive shit like Avengers and Mi:4

I don't see how the lack of extras in those two films would affect the content of TDKR when it's released eventually. MI:GP is a Paramount title, and Avengers is a Disney product. TDK was loaded with extras, and I expect the same for the third installment.

I'm betting the Dark Knight Rises extras will be Picture-in Picture short featurettes dealing with specific sequences that are playable with or without the movie like with Inception or The Dark Knight. It'll look like it was made for an EPK. Not an in-depth immersive 2-3 hour documentary with drama off and on-set and the process of making the film like blu-rays from Ridley Scott's films or David Fincher.

I'm hoping they hired a blu-ray producer like Charles de Lauzirika (Blade Runner, Alien Anthology) and go all out for this release. Probably not. What counts is the movie. But one can hope.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I hate all this picture in picture crap. Makes no sense to me. Watch a movie, get interrupted while watching it every 15min to watch a 3min clip. I don't want to spend 2-3hrs watching 30min of special features.
