+1

I'm guessing most of the ppl here were either too young or not even born yet (!) when Miller's masterpiece came out. If u consider urself any kind of comic book fan, this is absolutely REQUIRED reading.

As for the film, I'm glad that it is being so well received, both by those who have read the books, and those who have not. Personally, I'll be waiting until Part 2 comes out before I watch anything.

Any chance of a Part 1 & 2 Double Feature when Part 2 comes out or an edition with both parts combined into 1 movie?

I'm not sure if they'll be combined, but you can bet on a release including both in it

And I decided to post my complete DCU BB collection. I'm gonna need to find a larger shelf darnit!

Hell yeah it was awesome...

My ranking (solo Bats only):

1. Mask of the Phantasm
2. Return of the Joker
3. Under the Red Hood
[tied] 3. The Dark Knight Returns Part 1
5. Year One
6. Gotham Knight

Haven't seen Batman vs Dracula, Subzero, or Mystery of the Batwoman yet.

Mystery of the Batwoman is coming to the US soon, from what I've read.

And you're including more than solo Batman, so I guess I should add that those two Superman/Batman ones would fall below all except for Gotham Knight in my ranking.

Batwoman has been talked about for almost 2 years now. I'll see it when I believe it.

Gotham Knight is the only one I really have an issue with. It had it's good points but I dunno....

Batwoman cant sit at the table of the recent releases.

If it ever does come out i highly doubt folks will be ranking it in their top 5 Batman animated flicks.

The Dark Knight Returns
Return of The Joker
Crisis on Infinite Earths......Owlman
Red Hood

Once part two comes out, Red Hood will be an afterthought.

Hopefully Warner will release Mask of the Phantasm next year commemorating its 20th anniversary. Such a fantastic film deserves an excellent treatment.

Nah...Plus for giving us some Nightwing/Dick Greyson.

Anyone who wants to get the roots of the Dark Knight Returns should try to get their hands on Frank Miller's run on Daredevil. The DKR is the culmination of what he did on Daredevil in the early 80s. Even his Wolverine mini series weaves into the DKR stylistically. U can probably find the issues in a compilation.

I watched it again and its growing on me as its own animal. Yes visually telling the story this way makes more sense. Score is amazing too.Still some of that narration is the soul of the story. I will revise my rating to a B!
