Can you buy tickets in advance? So let's say we go to the movies on September 3rd to see a movie and we want to buy at the theater tickets for It coming on the 8th as well. Can it be done?

How long does it take for the master card thing to arrive?

Thanks.
1) No.
2) No.
3) It varies but not too long.

im a little confused. if this doesn't allow 3D or IMAX does that mean you can only watch the regular tiny screens? is Dolby at AMC not allowed either?

It doesn't cover the full price of "special formats." If you have to pay a premium over the normal ticket price, then I think Moviepass will cover the normal ticket price and you have to pay the difference.

Its only going to allow the price of a standard ticket, so any showtime/screen requiring an upcharge wont work.

Also, you cant just select a premium format and pay the difference at the time of purchase. Youll need to buy a standard 2d ticket, then ask to exchange the ticket for the different one and pay the difference then.

oh ok. but the last standard ticket movie i saw was Force awakens and the screen was so tiny and sound system and video quality was kinda unimpressive. are people fine watching on standard screens?

Standard screens at my theaters are fine for most movies, though many of the "tentpole" releases I will still want to see in premium.

Like I said, you can still see the premium and just pay the difference - there's just an extra step involved.

Have you actually done that before with Moviepass or are you just assuming that's the way to do it?

I have not, but this is what I have been told by a couple people who have been using it.

I could've used Movie Pass today since I saw the most boring animated movie I've ever seen (Nut Job 2).

Got it. Looks like that may be a good workaround.

I'm legit confused by these comments. What type of rinky-dink theaters are you going to? I hate IMAX/3D/etc type of screens. The only movies I've seen in the past couple years on them have been The Hateful Eight, Dunkirk, and The Revenant. Everything else I stick to the regular movie screens, which are still super huge, super loud, and a wonderful experience.

The standard theater rooms at my local theaters are just fine. Not like I'm sitting there watching on a 13" screen

Where is this so called "theater"?

Tiny screens with bad audio/video.

Bit confused by these "tiny screens" comments, too. Even the smallest screens at the second run theater here are in the twenty foot range. The main screens are much better, of course, sixty foot screens with Dolby Atmos, but even a "little" 20 footer is much better than my 42 inch home theater.

If you want to see imax you are SOL.

I had this service last year, i would use it like this: i would check in for a 2d movie that also had an imax showing, they would load my card with the $12. I would use that $12 towards the price of the imax (use it like a gift card, they swipe the movie pass first, the 12 bucks is taken off and then i would pay the difference on my bank card or cash)

Movie pass contacted me and told me they were shutting down my account because i bought an imax ticket. Didnt abuse it, didnt spend more money than i should have, used the exact amount they gave me for a regular ticket and paid the difference. And yet they banned me!

Doesn't sound like a good service whatsoever. Maybe just save your money for films you do want to see for sure or don't be a cheapskate and just take your chances.

Well yeah, you're not supposed to buy an Imax ticket with it. That's why you need to just buy a regular ticket and then go ask to exchange it and pay the difference. As far as MoviePass is concerned you only bought a standard ticket. The way you did it, they were aware of your IMAX purchase.

Don't know what you're talking about. This sounds like a great service. Why pay for one movie the same price that you could pay and see all the movies you want?

I suspect this won't be around long, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Especially with Blade Runner, Justice League, and Star Wars coming out in the next few months! Gonna be seeing those multiple times on the card.

Plus you have mother, It, Kingsman, Jigsaw, Foreigner, Suburbicon, Thor, Coco!!
