That opinion seems to be very consistent with what the media were saying about the game a few weeks ago. I'll be honest, I'm extremely nervous about Destiny! It's one of my most highly anticipated games and a huge reason why I went next-gen in the first place. I will be royally pissed if this game ends up sucking! I hope Bungie didn't get too ambitious and bit off more than they could chew.

What rumors are you referring to? I've not heard anything one way or the other.
It'll take more than a skeptical review to scare me off.

It seems that you are always "nervous" aboot any game that is aboot to be released. Just my observation though.

Honestly, who is this person that is posting on neogaf? Are we seriously going to go with a random post that this game is going to be "extremely underwhelming"

Not saying the "review" posted above is true or even that reliable, but there have been reports from people that have played Destiny that it's not as great as they thought it would be. They aren't saying the game sucks or anything it's just less of what they expected and some have been disappointed by it.

True story. But there will always be that group of individuals that will find something wrong with any game including ones that have alot of money thrown at them, ie. Uncharted, The Last of Us etc.

Yep, people will always find something to complain about no matter how good a game/movie/book etc is.

I'm in the "nervous" boat myself, but not just because of unconfirmed impressions.

It feels to me like Bungie may have gotten a little lost in the script, sacrificing player choice in favor of their "artistic vision".

Example:

In one interview, Bungie staff indicate that they started from the viewpoint that each of the 3 major classes needs to have a distinct silhouette. Then they went on to talk about how you could identify how much progression someone had by the color of their gear.

My takeaway: If you like the artistic "look" of another class, you can't get it without actually playing that class. And if you want a specific color palette, you maybe can't pick that either because the gear with the colors you want to use may be too high level for you, or may be to a rank below where you are, and you'd have to sacrifice equipment strength to look the way you'd like.

It makes me wonder where else Bungie has made these sorts of decisions, but at this moment, this game remains in the "maybe" pile until I see some clarity on how they're going to respond to players who just want to feel invested in their avatars.

Bungie announced this game way too early. I've been hyped since the info leak in November 2012, then the trailer in February 2013 when the PS4 was announced. Bungie continues to talk up the game without releasing much info, sadly, which I feel is causing people to feel "underwhelmed" or whatever they feel when given a small portion of the game to play.

Anyways, I'm not worried. Bungie is confident, and I've read/seen enough to be confident this game will deliver. We're getting a beta in July, most likely 7-7-14.

I am not worried. From what we have seen, the game is huge....so if someone is playing one specific area that is smaller in scope, so be it. I mean, if I am attacking a space shuttle area, I don't expect a football stadium size area...right?

It's funny that we're putting so much emphasis on random internet users' first impressions when the game is going to have a massive Beta in a few weeks that we're all most likely going to get a code for. I'd rather wait until I try it before worrying about its quality.

Just to be clear: when you preorder you get the code right then, and then you go to their site and register it
