Penelope Cruz to Play Bond Girl in JAMES BOND 24

Skyfall set high expectations for James Bond 24, but the right pieces are falling into place in order to meet the challenge. Last week, we learned that Sam Mendes would likely return to direct Bond 24 (and possibly James Bond 25), and now Bond has his girl. According to Yahoo! Movies UK, Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz will play the Bond girl in Bond 24. Yahoo!’s story notes that when she turns 40 next year, Cruz will be the oldest Bond girl to date (and therefore charmingly age appropriate to the 45-year-old Daniel Craig). Her age is a fun bit of a trivia, but getting to the actual casting, Cruz is a fantastic choice. She’s sharp, she’s sexy, and she can easily hold her own against Craig. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson reportedly tried to get Cruz in the past, but were unable to do so due to scheduling conflicts.

Filming on Bond 24 is set to begin next summer. While a 2016 release had been mentioned, if the film shoots in summer 2014, then a 2015 release could be a serious possibility.

I think I may have said this before, but after this announcement it becomes very relevant. In my opinion the famous Bond girls have been the worst Bond girls.

The best Bond girls were unknown at the time of their appearance in the franchise and for what ever reason the casting of a famous actress to play opposite James Bond has been a horrible mistake almost every single time.

Nothing against Penelope Cruze, I like many things she has done, I'm just saying it's a mistake that has been repeated over and over again over the past 50 years and I hope this doesn't follow that trend.

Mmmmm, Cruz as a Bond Girl.

I wouldn't worry about her being a "famous" Bond Girl, as, unlike Halle Berry, she can actually act.

After reading alot from a popular message board. A guy there talked to Sam Mendes after one of his plays in London. Said he was told by Sam, that he was going to do Bond 24 and 25. Start working on Bond 24 pre production after his 2nd play is done. I'd project IF this is true, I'd sya we get Bond 24 by Thanksgiving 2015. I know there were lots of talks of getting Bond 24 in 2014, but I just don't see that happening at all.

If the next is half as good as Skyfall, then we will get another worthy entry into the Bond cannon. So happy to have Mendes back.

Now the long wait. November 2015? Happy they are taking their one but I WANT IT NOW!

This is the first time since the 1980s we've had the same director on two consecutive Bond movies. Considering Skyfall is in my top 3 favorite 007 films, I'm pretty happy about this news as well.

This is great news, now that Mendes back for sure I hope they really deliver on what they set up at the end of Skyfall.

The ending to Skyfall was so good, especially for the hardcore Bond fans, when everything was perfectly setup for a return to the Ways of Old, but with a modern twist.

Considering Sam Mendes really wanted to put the gun barrel at the beginning but instead settled on a shot (and quick music cue) that kind of mimicked the effect, I have a feeling we'll be seeing it return to the front of the film for Bond 24.

I liked sky fall but I think in my opinion that casino royale is better than skyfall.

Cruz worries me. She is a phenomenal actress when speaking her native Spanish. She is a mess with English. Hopefully she gets the job done. I would love to be proven wrong.
