Same here. The 1-6 box set is all you need (or 4-6 if you're that way inclined).

Once Clone Wars Season 5 is released that's it for Star Wars home video releases until Episode VII (I imagine unless they re-release everything again....)

A box set in 2020 would seem a better opportunity to look back rather than forward.

Either way I'm not really pushed. I have the Unaltered Trilogy on DVD but since the first time I saw Star Wars was the special editions the UOT doesn't hold them same value to me. I think they should be released for their historical significance but I'm sure as hell not loosing sleep over them.
Disney will have to reach a deal with Fox, as Fox holds distribution rights for Episode IV, forever. Can't make a set without A New Hope!

Disney don't need to buy out Fox. They just control Lucasfilm. Fox have always taken their Star Wars release cues from Lucasfilm. Nothing's changed except Lucasfilm now have Disney to tell them what to do.

If Disney/Lucasfilm wanted to release a new version of the trilogy then it'll be the same as if Lucasfilm wanted to do so back before the Disney buyout. Fox aren't going to object - it's very little work for a decent percentage of the profits. The majority of the money goes back to Lucasfilm (and, nowadays, up again to Disney).

The only people who might object to it would be Disney themselves who might not want Fox to profit from it. But, as I say, it's a fairly small profit they get from distribution, even if that profit is a few million dollars. It's nothing Disney wouldn't miss.

Bottom line, if Disney really wanted to release an unaltered trilogy then they could do so if Fox agreed to distribute it and it would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't. The relationship between Fox and Lucasfilm hasn't changed, only the people getting the profits from the Lucasfilm side of things. It'd be exactly the same as if Lucas wanted to do this last year.

I agree that this post-2020 where it would get a bit more complicated as Episode IV isn't just a distribution ownership. But I also have no doubts that Fox and Disney will work it out. As you say, Disney can't release a saga boxset without it and Fox can't really do anything with the film by itself and would happily take a cut of the boxset profits whislt doing no work for it.

Exactly. All Fox has to do is sit back and wait for the green light that say release this. This is a phenominal deal for Fox and they know it, but as we get closer to 2020 and all episodes, sans IV, resory back to Disney...I think we'll hear about some talks.
No matter what Fox stands to make a lot more money on the SW franchise, just a question of how much and for how long.

Purchasing Fox would not pale in comparison to the purchase of LucasFilms at all. Disney paid a hell of a lot more just for Pixar.

Maybe if Disney purchases Fox we might someday get a continuation of the Firefly universe.

Too bad by the time that happens all the characters will be 30+ years older (or dead).

Disney is never going to purchase Fox. Especially not for the rights to one film....

It's likely Fox will just ask for 11% of the profits as the distribution fee it would have earned. Like Paramount did when Disney brought the rights to The Avengers.

Also, nobody's asked whether Warner or Lucasfilm holds the distribution rights to The Clone Wars films and series. Disney may also wish to pursue those, and I doubt they'll buy out Warner just for those. (They'd probably be stopped for competition reasons or some bullshit like that)

Why would you do that and take a big chance on packaging?
