If they do eventually release season 3-6 on BD, do you think they will just do a complete series set or release the seasons separately?

I’m surprised a complete series set hasn’t been announced yet. Looking forward to it happening.

All I can think is that it is because they had/have more work to do before a complete series release can be completed. Thay had seasons 1 through 6 streaming in HD, but not the final hour-long episodes they reference as seasons 7, 8, and 9. Also, the original season 1 and 2 blu-ray releases included original openings/credits and an option for commercials. Possibly, they planned to include those capabilities in the later seasons, and they have been waiting for everything to be completed.

My view is they're putting out everything else that's ready first so that time will soften the blow for those who paid $60 for the first two individual seasons.

I'm betting they're focused on prepping all of it for streaming and they look at blu-ray release as an ancillary product to that.

If so, wouldn't they have followed the same logic with The Andy Griffith Show that they also charged $60 for and is already out on blu-ray?

The Andy Griffith Show was completed and out streaming for a bit before the blu-ray release. I Love Lucy isn't yet streaming with the later episodes. Many seemed to question why TAGS would get released first when ILL is the more prized product. As I said before, I think they have been working on it, but I think they will make a splash with a complete blu-ray set before the remaining episodes show up streaming.

They made a whole show and dance about how I Love Lucy was being restored at the time though and that these Blu-ray releases were funding it and the cost was justified etc. I think everyone knew Andy Griffith was just existing HD masters and they weren't fooling anyone so there was nothing to lose.

But that first season of TAGS on blu-ray wasn't just the existing HD masters. They went back and added all the sponsor bits to the first season so that you could watch it with and without the additional sponsor bits and the actors. They put some effort into it.

I agree there is/was more to still be done with ILL than TAGS. I just disagree that they have been waiting to soften the blow to those that bought the earlier blu-ray releases. Especially, given they didn't sell well and many eventually picked them up for $20. I just believe they will release it when they have completed the restoration of what they wanted to still restore, and that just hasn't happened yet.

I feel like we are getting this this year as a bare bones release for Seasons 3-9. I would hope for a port of the DVD extras or colorized collection, but I feel like CBS will just treat it like they have other recent releases. I bet it will be around Lucy’s birthday.

What makes you think that? Would love to see it, but curious if you're reading tea leaves from somewhere or just a hope/gut feeling?

It's is so freaking annoying how CBS Paramount has treated this series. Such disrespect to Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz IMO. In 2024, we should not have to sill be begging a major studio for Blu-ray complete series of legendary TV shows.

The fact that it’s not even available for purchase digitally or streaming in Canada. Pathetic.

The entire series is available to stream in HD on Paramount Plus. That's the only way to watch all the episodes in HD, as far as I know.

iTunes has a bunch of episodes to purchase digitally, but not all the episodes, unfortunately.

But where is the Lucy and Desi Comedy Hour?

Pretty much a continuation of I Love Lucy and I can’t stream it anywhere.

I’m surprised Paramount+ doesn’t stream it.

Yeah, that's only available on DVD unfortunately. Don't know why those episodes get ignored.

I love that show and brings back great memories of watching it during the summer of ‘95/‘96 on Nick at Night.

I would assume since it's two different shows, they have different licensing. Might also be what's holding up a complete series BD. I'd be fine having ILL and LDCH separate as long as we get them.

And yet a lot of people stand by streaming as the best source for their entertainment. Exactly why I still use the DVDS. When the company removes a show, censors it, or never made it available to begin with... at least you can watch a copy that you own. Simple as that. All streaming did was give companies more power over what you are supplied with and what you can watch. No denying that.
